Well, our sofa is 40 years old this year. Never reupholstered--and it looks shockingly good. My brother has its twin, also never reupholstered.

I'm sure it was expensive -- my parents bought the two matching 72" sofas from an interior designer, who had them made by Kisabeth of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

I wish I knew what the fabric was. I think my mother told me at the time of purchase that it had some wool fiber, but she doesn't remember now.

The frame is in perfect shape, but just this year the cushions have started sagging and the down and/or feathers are starting to come out, so I am stressing over finding a good reupholstery place .... because obviously I could *NEVER* purchase a sofa made this well!

34 places in 60 years. 16 growing up; 18 after marriage (neither were military, it just sort of happened that way).

The best thing about moving a lot: we don't have much junk, since we throw lots of stuff away every time. I'm happy about that every time I look in my empty attic, clean garage, or small storage shed that only has a few boxes of Christmas decorations and a few boxes my children have stored with us.

The worst thing: we'll probably retire with zero equity because of the ups and downs of the housing market.

But every house has been a home.

How Many Homes Have You Lived In? (And What Makes a Home, Anyway?)

After a recent jump in the number of people following my Pinterest account, I figured out that many of them can't possibly be real (I was hoping it was just new people who didn't know the system of pinning yet).

The fake accounts usually just have one pin (or none) for each board, and their Profiles are weird ... two different accounts started following me today, and both of their profiles said, "Follow me if you like Jennifer Lopez." I had suspected some accounts of being spam, but now I know for sure.

It's too bad ... hope they figure out a way to identify and delete these spammers.

I used a couple of hanging sweater storage units hung sideways in the closet of our extra bedroom. This is a photo right after installation, before I put in all my skeins and needles and organized it by yarn weight:

Always check snopes.com before believing those urban rumor emails. The only donation misstep I see that might be objectionable is that they ban Salvation Army ringers from ringing at their stores. They still donate to the Salvation Army, though.

I'm not connected with Target or snopes.com, just makes me mad when people believe those emails.

Here go the irritating shouts of "stealing" ... GEEZ, stop it--don't assume!

We've moved 5 times in the last 7 years and usually repaint every room a different color (we like color and freshly painted walls!). I keep my paint chips, but paint companies are always discontinuing a bunch and bringing in a bunch of new colors, so I end up getting yet more paint chips. Let's see, 12-20 possible paint samples for each room times 10-12 rooms times 5 moves ... yeah, I have enough for a project. And *NOT* by "stealing."

We watch it, and it's been pretty interesting (except we can't STAND the host, who is unfortunately also the new host of the Next Design Star).

I don't think the homeowners pay for anything. There isn't much control, though, besides the homeowners stating what their hopes and preferences are for the space. After that -- they get what they get. If you have a terrible space to begin with, though, you might at least get new floors and paint!

I hate to say it, but we have moved a lot, and the majority of homebuyers have NO imagination WHATSOEVER. We always have colors on the walls, and the first thing every real estate person tells us is to please repaint the walls white.

The two times we tried to sell without painting every wall bland white, the houses languished months on the market, until we painted everything white--after which they both sold within a week.

I sure hope we don't move again, because I love the colors we have now (oh, and the house too, of course).
