I make these every Christmas! You can use other cheeses like pepper jack and I sometimes cut them out into star shapes. Other times we add in cayenne and I've even used the cheddar cheese straw dough as a crust for an apple pie--delish! That's a lovely attitude to take towards (even hypothetically speaking) people who would take time out of their lives and pocketbook to buy gifts and spend an hour or so showering you with presents (and affection, I would think). My husband bought me a new turntable for Christmas (the old Fischer Price record player just didn't sound so good anymore!). We play records for ourselves and the kids pretty often--vinyl sounds good. Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | Is Your Household Record Player Friendly? |

While this may be useful if you are in the bathroom with your kids, the bottom line is that infants and toddlers should not have free access to bathrooms AT ALL. So many children have drowned in tubs and toilets . . . When I was a toddler, I climbed up on the counter, turned on the hot water and burned my feet so badly that I was in bandages and couldn't walk for weeks. And, yes, there were adults nearby. Things can happen in a heartbeat and bathrooms should be gated and doors kept shut. Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | Hot or Not? TP Saver |

I made a three layer cake using the joy of cooking's white layer cake recipe-- it turned out great! Honestly, with the gel food coloring, the amount of dye is negligible. It takes so little to get good results. Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | Rainbow CakeSlinks: n. (slingks) Surreptitious web links to other good sites |

Two suggestions: spray in insulation, for one--I think you can even just have loose fiberglass blown in which would be great if access to the pipes is a necessity. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Good Questions: Warming Up a Cold Kitchen Floor? |

Simply Slipcovers published by Sunset ( got it off of Amazon ) was a simply wonderful guide. I used it for my couch and it helped tremendously. It taught me how to "pin-fit" rather than to use a pattern. Highly, highly recommend it for any upholstery project. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Blogging...Mayfly's DIY Slipcover |

Perhaps that is what "those kinds of people" like and enjoy living with? Sometimes things are just cultural. That said, I think it's interesting that someone is using a hand-done technique to create something that looks like a computer did it. I use (per one cup) 1 TB Dr. Bronner's, and a couple of dashes of peppermint, tea tree and lavender oils. The smell is heavenly! I also mix up a batch and keep it in a spray bottle. I am posting without reading previous posts, but you could buy some very inexpensive roller blinds and paint them with glorious colors. During the day they would all but disappear and let the light in and at night they'd cover the dark caverns that windows can become. Plus, you'd have some really large-scale art to brighten up the room. Apartment Therapy New York | Good Questions: Inexpensive Window Treatments? |
