I have photo tiles from a local gallery on my bathroom walls. I don't have an exhaust fan so humidity was a real concern.

I have a shot glass collection as well! I collect the ones that look like little wine glasses and mini glass mugs. I also have some in other interesting shapes. I have a few old pictures up here of the some of the glasses in their old display case. It was a small tabletop unit that served them very well until the collection got too big.

My apartment has a built-in shelving unit where there used to be a window. The shelves are of varying height. I now have my collection arranged on the narrowest one, which is only 6" high. The other shelves are filled with an eclectic variety of picture frames and knickknacks, so the little colored glass on their low shelf make for an interesting contrast in their unity.

The Madness of Thomas Kinkade

"Do not misunderstand me, here. Kinkade’s art does not evoke Clown Fear, or Marionette Fear, or Dick Cheney Fear, or Disney Audio-Animatronic Fear I’m talking about that Mother of All Fears: When Paradise Turns into Hell."

I like social history, international literature, and Modernist fiction. I also have an entire shelf devoted to Cthulhu Mythos books - a complete edition of Lovecraft's stories, anthologies from Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu fiction line, collections by various contemporary Mythos authors (Sargent, Pugmire, Ligotti), Innsmouth Free Press collections, and collections by Lovecraft's predecessors Arthur Machen and Robert W. Chambers. Oh, and also this book published in the 1940s called It's an Old New England Custom that includes a chapter called "To Thirst After Strange Gods." I got it yesterday at an antique bookstore of precisely the type Lovecraft would have loved.

I suppose my bookshelves say I'm eclectic: generally a serious reader but not afraid to indulge a fun geeky side.

Most coffee pots already HAVE lines indicating how much water to use to make different numbers of cups so I'm afraid I don't understand this "wasting half a pot of coffee when I'm only having one cup." And then there's the environmental issue of having all this plastic waste and, as this article indicates, the longterm costs of buying the pods.

Call me a coffee snob all you want but quite frankly, but these pods are the stupidest idea ever.

The Rochester Wiki has a page devoted to the city's cool houses. Check it out here. Includes a couple of AT links at the bottom to both this tour and an earlier one.

Typical decor of an HGTV Rate My Space submission. They really could use a few demons over there.

Always happy to see Rochester represented on AT. Our city is famous for its architecture and I love just walking around looking at the many old houses. Looks like Emily has done this one justice.

Put a date on your sign! Since garage sale signs often get left out, how do I know "this Saturday" or "tomorrow" wasn't two weeks ago?

I've always thought of minimalism as anti-clutter. I don't see why you can't still have a colorful space, with accent walls, painted trim, rugs, interesting furniture, and so forth.

These are not homes. They are depressing, empty sterility.

@ ladyearl

That coffee table is Star Trek, not Star Wars. HUGE difference.

I already have a shelf full of Cthulhu Mythos books, complete with two complete Lovecraft anthologies. I've been thinking of acquiring a little Cthulhu statue, or perhaps a crocheted Weethulhu, to complete the horror.

This would pretty awesome too, if I had the space and money.

I have one of these. They're carry-on travel bags from a Fair Trade cooperative in Cambodia. Because they're made out of recycled rice bags, they're incredibly strong.

My studio is a little under 400 square feet so this really resonates with me. I love the soothing blue-and-white look.
