We actually have desks at home, but still wind up migrating our work to the dining room table. It's not that much trouble to clear it off for dinner, people.

It is definitely possible to break a bad habit & make a good one. I used to be terrible at answering my mail on time; I'd let dishes pile up, and never made the bed. Now I do all three just fine. I read that it takes a month to break a bad habit and three months to form a new one. Three months is about what it took for me to not have to think about answering my mail, making my bed in the morning and washing the dishes at night.

I've used an Eagle Creek full-size bag for years. The thing has been to dozens of different states and countries and it's still ticking. And the removable daypack is just as useful as you said.

I LOVE the deck dining space - it's like seating at a great outdoor cafe. And I'm so jealous of the subway tiled bathroom. I wish I had the guts to suggest that to my landlord.

I have a bottle of red wine remover and a spray-on carpet cleaner - both did a great job of getting red wine out of my carpet, but I expect the red wine remover is a bit less toxic.

This was written by a coffee drinker, wasn't it?

There is nothing - NOTHING - that a tea drinker hates more than hot water poured through or into something that once contained coffee. You can wash that sucker a million times and your tea will still taste like coffee.

If you are a coffee drinker who wants to be ready for tea drinking guests, good for you, but please don't do this. Get an electric kettle or a stovetop kettle.

Our guest room doubles as an office, so we only had room for a sleeper. We paid about $1,500 for an air coil sleeper from Room & Board and all of our guests love it. With a mattress cover pad, it feels exactly like a regular bed.

That Before is nearly identical to my kitchen... I'm not totally crazy with everything in the After, but man am I jealous that they could make those changes. I'd kill for a new backsplash.

It's not sad to wax nostalgic for a slower time. It's sad to make fun of people for being nostalgic.

Agree with ezrazoe about the rug. If all you did was replace that, the room would improve 50%.

Not that the rug is ugly... it's just too small and washing out the room with its neutrality. The room needs a much bigger, solid-color rug in a contrasting color or white.

Then pull everything together with new colorful pillows and some more art on the walls.

(Btw - love the faux rhino head over the fireplace!)
