Where did the wire piece in the bathroom come from?! I love it.

Yikes. People are so passionate about a personal design decision in someone's own home. Some of my best friends don't color block their books, while I do. We can all live in this world together. They don't come over and call my books ugly and I don't go to their place and rag on their collection. The truth is that it is not a "fad" it has been happening for years and for those of us who read a book once and don't read it again, it is a good way to have them around and keep it simple on my eyes - my eyes which appreciate the color blocking. Ease up folks.

It may sound like a waste of money but on a recent trip to Ikea I purchased a pack of 2 moving boxes. I hated that I spent 6 bucks on them but getting them for free elsewhere is a hassle.

The Ikea boxes saved the day. They were sturdy, held a lot and didn't require any tape to build. They have handles, the cardboard is thick.

Seriously, I did not expect people to be so black and white about stuff like this, on AT.

In any case, I love it... its smart, cute and a fresh idea for a room that is too often typical or trite.

Good job! I would do 1 and 2 in there gladly.

There is something powerful and confident about living alone. I love living solo (minus the bills), waking up slowly and seeing the city through the windows, cooking up something experimental, watching all the HGTV/Univision or AMC I want and rearranging furniture when I please. Almost worth cutting the rent check each month :P

I voted for Divine Design because its timeless, tasteful and rich without being too much.

I will say, however, that I like Myles of Style for her inexpensive way to pull of expensive ideas.

I hate being "over" things that are "out"... I love my keep calm poster and my MCM pieces, obvious or not. Maybe some of ya'll can afford to update yearly but I certainly can't. The trick is to only subscribe to trends you think will carry over and become timeless or to just buy what you like no matter what list its on.

ps... enough with the etsy already! i like it but its a bit overrated.

I think if you like watching tv, you need to stop being afraid of it. Everyone on here TV-bashes way too much.

Back to your dilemma: You have a low sofa and your tv is pretty big. I say you put it on something much lower than what its on now. I would save myself the money and use the coffee table you have for your tv and spend some cash on a new bad ass coffee table that works towards your updated mcm look. I think the coffee table as a tv stand would be way cuter than some bulky piece made for a honkin' tv like that.

Good luck!

I like the nesting tables idea. I also like the Smart Marble Coffee Table from CB2. Or you could buy two short end tables and put them together. This way you could move them around or access from the sofa and the chair. Just a thought.

I like the changes so far. I would paint the bookshelves white, they will look a bit more rich... like chip-in-dale chairs. Also, black pillows on the couch would tie it in to the rug nicely. Lastly, something larger and more edgy perhaps leaning against the wall on the console behind the couch.

AND turn those chairs to face the coffee table! You can turn them towards the tv or whatever they are pointed at as needed.

I hope this didn't come off negative as a lot of these other comments do. We should be a lot more constructive. It is easy to have folks say mean things about your space. Keep it constructive, this isn't high school.
