@sisterfunkhaus--i don't believe there is any reason to think that kids want or need all those colors from kids r us. its truly a matter of choice. my daughter has a very neutral room. we also take her to the parks and on hikes a lot. is that not stimulating enough because there are no musical toys or tvs or bright pink play mats? it depends how you want to use the space--if it is a space that is used more for sleep, i think its better for it to be calming and peaceful, then they know when they are there it is time to relax, not time to be stimulated by colors and toys. but i also prefer that for myself. so its really a matter of choice and at 19 months, you can't yet ask what they want! OMG, back in 2003, we spent the summer in Manhattan. I was trying to convince my husband to move there. We couldn't find much online in our price range, but did see one place listed by a broker that looked good. He said he had other places to show us. We spent a hot afternoon looking at total shitbox apartments on the Upper West Side and at the last place, he said he lived across the street, had air conditioning and would we like to come in for a beer? Sure. So what did the beer entail? An Amway presentation. We finally got out of there by agreeing to take the promotional materials and saying that we'd consider selling Amway. "Supernatural growth" he promised us. Then he followed up on the Amway materials so relentlessly that we both changed his name on our caller ID to "do not answer." So there's my broker experience! i agree with wwoolsey. i have metro grey in my bedroom and it makes me happy every morning when i wake up to it. it has a slight lavender undertone. i think it's benjamin moore. it's divine.
