I think toning down the colors and new hardware would go a long way. If you change out the hinges, just be aware that you currently have hinges that attach to the front of the door and the front of the cabinet. Many of the hinges now are hidden and secure inside the door. Changing to this type of hinge will require you to make some adjustment to the cabinet or door because of the additional width of a hinge. I learned this the hard way at the end of a DIY remodel when none of the cabinet doors would close until I sanded down the edge of each door to account for the 1/8 inch of the hinge.

Any thoughts on how well nondairy milk would freeze? Due to a dairy and soy allergy, we experiment with a lot of nondairy milks (flax, rice, hemp, oat, etc.). We have found some are better for drinking and others are better for baking. Do you all think freezing nondairy milks would work the same?

I agree with expanding your Craig's List posting to a larger geographic area. Someone would likely be willing to drive quite the distance for a high end product at a good price. We have an Oeuf and I don't know that I could part with it for less than what you're asking. If you do want to store it, just wrap it up really good. Ours just came out of storage (was there for 6+ months) and was in perfect condition. We had it wrapped in plastic and blankets and it didn't get any dings or scratches.

Sell Cheap or Keep This Oeuf Crib? Good Questions

We have had an Oeuf classic crib for over 5 years and it's been used for two kids. In my opinion a crib that will last is a solid investment. Also, Oeuf customer service is brilliant. We've contacted them several times over the last five years for touch up paint, guidance on how to reattach the dresser drawers and most recently to replace our mattress support, which cracked. Each and every time Oeuf has responded within a short amount of time and solved our problem without charging us anything.

This year Santa scored an awesome train table off of Craigslist and some train track from eBay. I think it's a great place to consider for holiday gifts and we will continue to do shop Craigslist in the future.

I want more pics too. Is the hall light fixture original to the house? If not, source? And are those ikea bookshelves? Love the look of the couch up against wall of bookshelves.

This has happened to me twice! Took forever to get all of the glass shards out of the oven. I've stopped using glass bakeware as a result.

We camped in Yosemite with an 11 month old. A headlamp is a must for night time diaper changes. As for sleeping, we took the Phil & Ted version of a pack n play. Brings lots of covers in case of varying weather. A kelty backpack carrier was great for hiking. We hiked to Yosemite Falls/Vernal Falls with it and our daughter even fell asleep during the hike. I definitely say go for it! It was a truly memorable vacation and one we hope to do again soon.

We hiked Yosemite with our one year-old using a kelty external frame pack. It was very comfortable for both myself and my husband and I highly recommend it. The pack gave our daughter a great view of everything and she loved it. I definitely recommend checking into that and trying one on. If you have an REI near you should be able to test it out there. That's where we got ours several years ago.

We have had blik decals in two rooms. We have used both the regular and reusable kind. There have been no problems with the regular blik peeling but I have noticed that some of the reusable ones I have up now have peeled up a little and I just had to push the corner down. Neither kind has actually fallen off the wall. I think they stick very well to the wall.

We had some vintage flash cards and had two pieces of plexiglass cut at the Home Depot that were a little larger than the card. Then we sandwiched the card between the plexiglass and used a clear glue in the corners. You could see the glue a little but there might be a better product out there. Then we used a binder clip at the top as the hook and have them hanging in the room. They would not be interchangeable like that but you could do this until you wanted to use them more regularly.

If you happen to have a lot of snow too, you can make Little House Molasses Snow Candy that I saw over on the Fix Me A Snack blog. http://www.fixmeasnack.com/2011/01/little-house-molasses-snow-candy-recipe/ Or these are my favorite cookies and are not too similar to gingerbread to be classified as Christmas-y. http://www.tastebook.com/recipes/752874-Molasses-Softies

Great suggestions already. Here are mine:
Package of cloth diapers - use as burp cloth, changing pad protector, etc.
Diapers and wipes - include a travel pack of wipes (we totally forgot about needing wipes on the go with our first one)
California baby soap or similar
Munchkin dishwasher basket (if they have a dishwasher) - great for bottles, pacifiers, little baby toys, etc.
Good swaddling blanket - I second Swaddle Designs
Sophie the Giraffe - every child I have given one to has become instantly attached to Sophie
Socks - I think trumpette stay on the best

We just bought the chemex. It makes a wonderful cup of coffee and we haven't noticed it taking that much longer. Yes, you can't set it to brew while you're getting ready in the morning but it doesn't really take long to boil water. We still have the drip - so company can always make a cup of coffee. But the Chemex is our go-to coffee maker. And I agree with @shlowzi, it is much easier to clean than a drip machine.

Mary Meyer has a few wind-up plush toys. They are available on amazon but here's a link to the website, just search for "wind-up" and they come up: http://www.marymeyer.com

Also, carter's has a wind-up giraffe (maybe what @southwick was talking about) and here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/Carters-Child-Giraffe-Wind-up-Musical/dp/B00394TBZE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1289588257&sr=8-1-catcorr

One other option is I remember a musical (chimes, not wind up) apple from my childhood. It was fisher price and I think this is it (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160500586512). May not fix the hitting himself on the head issue but would be close to shape and size.

Haven't cooked a wild turkey but have been cooking free-range heritage breed birds for years. The key to cooking the heritage breed is to brine so I would think that would work for you too. I like Martha's brine: http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/turkey-brine-from-living

We have the ikea slide and both our 3 year old and 15 month old love it. The could climb and slide all day. I highly recommend it. The footprint isn't that big but there really is no good way to store it. You could take the slide off of the base for storage but that wouldn't be very convenient as everyday storage.
