I love the idea of the table counter height! Also the ceiling is a great option. I have a retractable clothes line one in my bath (since I live in an apartment) but you could get a few since you have the space. Rolling Rack Alternative for Laundry Room? Good Questions |

I try not to keep a lot in there so it does not look messy. While my little ones are in a bath for the night I clean the toilet or sink or sweep while talking with them. Then I wash my hands and deal with the kiddies. How To Keep Your Bathroom Clean In 5 Minutes A Day |

I live in a very small place. I know there will be years and years of projects and art from my two little kids. So I show it on a door that has a natural frame. I think this is great advise for people who need help and are not sure how to start. It is all about getting one area done at a time. One week it might be the junk drawer. Then next week it could be the freezer. It doesn't have to start with the messiest room. Get a couple of things done and feel good about before you tackle the garage. I am super old school: no TV, no phones of any kind, and no computers in the bedroom. I have a clock that does not have an LCD screen because the light drives me nuts. Black out shades. It has to be a bit cold too. The bed has to be made everyday since getting in an unmade bed feels like getting in to garbage, and then I can't sleep. So I guess I am anti tech in the bedroom. Sweet dreams everyone. Sleep Tight & Wake Up Right |

I think all this advice is great! One thing to consider is if you will sell your home in the future, then make sure you can get as much money out of the renovation as possible. I am going to simplify this a bit, but if you bought your home for $100,000 (I wish) and you spend $40,000 on your kitchen with everything. Then your home should sell for at lest $140,000. If think you can not sell your house for that much then consider spending less on the renovation. Look at zillow.com to see recent home sales in your area to compare. I think you should look at a center piece above the table on the wall, so your eye goes there first. I like the yellow chairs, so I would include a pop of yellow in that poster, or painting, or frame. (if its a yellow frame then you could display the kids art in it) Then I would zone off the rest of the wall. Do you need hanging shelves, would it look to messy? I see a painting area and a drum set. You could zone off the rest of the wall and hang gray or neutral storage for the arts and craft stuff. Just have a home for all the crafts, so at the end of the day the table is clear. If you like the idea of chalkboard there are also chalkboard wall decals that come in fun shapes. I also like the idea of breaking up the room into zones. BUT just try floating your sofa maybe about three or four feet from the windows. Then behind that is toy storage, a little table and whatnot. When your kid goes to bed its gone away and it looks tidy. When she is playing its a cool space and the toys get dragged out all over anyway. Help With Layout of Narrow Living Room? Good Questions |
