OMG! to all the contact paper haters... the reality is it's an IKEA desk and Shelving unit.. the contact paper may very well outlive both pieces of furniture... besides that when the contact paper gets shabby replace it... If you are sick of MCM, books for display, cow hide rugs, "Keep Calm" posters, spray painted items, DIY projects or anything else that everyone has whined about then don't use them! I personally want to hurl everytime I hear that a kitchen has to have SS appliances and Granite countertops and you know what? neither of my kitchens have them.For once try a little imagination and decorate your home with things that YOU like and that YOU think are comfortable, you have to live with it not anyone else. We are in the process of relocating from Brooklyn to Chicago and I just signed a lease last week on a Chicago apartment. I have used Craigslist exclusively in finding apartments in San Francisco, West Hollywood, Brooklyn and now Chicago. The white wire chairs in the top photo, I think they used to be called Italian Dining Chairs? They used to be incredibly popular and very easy to find.They stack for storage and were powdercoated so they didn't get hot if sitting in the sun. I haven't seen them available for years. David & Im's OneSpace (pics 2&3) is nothing short of spectacular. Rarely does a post dazzle me completely. how about this? buy a 4'x8' sheet of sheetrock (maybe $7.00) at your local Home Depot, a quart of primer and quart of paint to match your Kitchen walls. Cut the sheetrock with a utility knife (no special tools needed) to fill the space behind the fridge, floor to ceiling, wall to wall. Tack it up to the door frame. That way after it's primed and painted it will look like a solid wall. Also it will prevent any damage to the coils on your fridge should someone accidentally open the door into the back of the fridge. Shelves mounted above the fridge painted in this same paint would then give you more storage space. No fabric draping please.. it will get covered in grease and grime from cooking.
