Ahh Shucks you are so kind, thanks for all sweet words. To answer some of your questions:

wandering star- yes we are procrastinators at unpacking but those suitcases are intentional. It's great additional storage for games, office supplies, and the perpetual craft project in the works.

KATMARIE- The rug is from Pier One a couple years ago, not the most original source but I fell in love.

TSE MOANA- The artwork is from a dumpster... My husband rescued them at the end of the school year, apparently that English teacher that was done with her unit on mythology.

Risers for Modern Sofa?

We've re-done the webbing under the cushions and so that has good support and yet still maintains the comfort of a sofa.

I'd thought about a platform but like most of you, I can't comprehend a way that won't distract from the beauty of the frame.

As for chairs, great idea... yet our small abode lacks the space for additional seating. KRDavis may be on to something with additional cushions to add seat height.

I work in furniture sales and I always tell clients while ultrasuede/microfiber is generally regarded as great for pet owners it does create more static electricity than other fabrics. So while the pet hair can't really penetrate through the fabric it does cling to it like no one's business!

Every fabric has its strengths and weaknesses, choose a fabric that you are comfortable working with and that won't highlight your pet's discarded fur.

Oh and one more tip stay away from rayon heavy fabrics, they crush quickly and look worn when they are not. Because you are putting it on a vintage frame it will look old and nasty before you know it.

best of luck!

I've found it's on in the selection of herbs to grow. I too have been frustrated at my lacking green thumb when I've tried to grow the peskier plants. So now I stick to the ones I love and use all the time, Basil and Rosemary. Once you have these plants going strong try adding thyme or oregano.

However, I too can't live with out cilantro I buy a bunch cut for under a buck, trim the ends like you would flowers and place them in water in the fridge, a good group will last a week or two that way.

Oh and for extra credit try training your rosemary to grow in a topiary, like I did. So simple, yet so chic.

Embrace his style, even if it's in little ways.
My husband adores batman, so we have a batman alarm clock. Not the style choice I would have made, but I chose him, so I'll be happy with the action figure alarm clock as long as he's beside me.

For a longer list check out our blog that deals with this very subject, finding the balance between batman and paisley.
