I did make the chevron painting in the bedroom- see earlier comment for basic instructions. I use acrylic paints, and mix all of my own colors, however you can buy them in tubes in generic colors!

Regarding the metallic kitchen stripes- I also taped those out. I was careful to measure every two feet or so to make sure the lines were straight. I have also used a laser level before- but I did not on this particular project. I used two different metallic Valspar paints from lowes. The first coat was a brighter silver and the second coat was pewter. I let the first coat dry and then brushed on a very small amount of the pewter paint with a strie brush to create a dimensional look. I think it looks even better in person :) The pictures don't capture the dimension!

WOW!! I am overwhelmed by all of the wonderful comments. Thanks to all! With two home offices, it was important to create a calming space that we loved.

For those interested in the Chevron painting...

1. YES I made it :)

2. I did not use a stencil, I used painters tape and set out the pattern. (I first painted the cream background, and then applied the gray stripes) The taping took forever, but was well worth it in the end. I needed the scale of the pattern to be just right for the size of the canvas and the overall design of the room.
