More than anything I'm curious if this panel will be one sided or not. The guests so far are of course from DWR and Modernica. Until you get someone from White on White there then I think it'll just be the big boys justifying their high prices. I love design and yet it irks me to no end the original pieces were produced specifically so that mass production could make them affordable for all... and yet here we are stuck with DWR and Herman Miller pricing.

This is nothing new in Australia. We had Blue and Brown that started and launched an entire business based on this years ago. They've since rebranded and become Bleux focusing on graphic design for interiors. http://www.bleux.com.au/

Anyone with a good printer and good ins with wholesale interior surface or arts products can produce cheap work like this. It does serve a very valid need.

Just do a search on Google for the term "digital canvas prints" and you'll find any number of businesses with staffs of illustrators and graphic designers who create wall art.

I would bet cold hard cash people here who say they'd never buy a knock-off have and probably don't know it. If you've shopped at Ikea, West Elm, CB2, Target, or pretty much any shop other than the original designer's studio, you've bought a damn knock off so stop acting so elitest. I'm laffing myself crazy over this because the same people need to only look down at their clothes, shoes, or even their general lifestyle to see that THEY are knockoffs. this is all getting funnier by the minute. Maybe someone should do a better job about defining the term knock-off. Is it derivative trickle down design? Or blatant rip-off just made with cheaper materials? What is it?

Another "trend" I loathe. this along with arranging books by colour just rubs me the wrong way. No thank you...

I am trying to type this with one hand and a broken hand as a result of my most frustrated recent effort at assembling a piece of furniture. Nevermind that it was a new ikea set of dressers. I really wanted something nicer but the budget being what it is we had no choice. It wasn't until after last Friday's surgery which now has 3 pins in my crushed left hand that we noticed the ikea website warns about this particular dresser's propensity for falling over. It was both our eagerness to try pushing the dresser back into place and it's seriously top-heavy build that led to my busted hand and my partner's pulled back.

Thanks everyone. I think the hard part is finding a bench. I've come across tons of stools for one person but I want a wider bench. The picture is a bit deceiving but that's actually a bench about 36 inches wide. Awesome suggestions. D-

I think after Katrina, and I'm a local born and raised girl, shop owners and other areas outside of the French Quarter would greatly appreciate all the business they can get, still years later. Try heading off into the Garden District for a stroll. Take the St. Charles to the end of the line and back and bring a camera with you. Or head up to Congo Square in Louis Armstrong Park, in the Tremé neighborhood. Basically explore. If you want an interesting take on NOLA try getting up just before sunrise and taking a walk down to the river. The FQ is a totally different place in the wee hours.

I'm curious as to how you keep the pillows from sliding off or losing tem in the night back down by the window? And the table is gorgeous btw. Nice.

It was a huge hit in Elle UK and I got one while living in Sydney. I was never a fan of ikea lounges as they were always too weakly built but this sucker is heavy and everyone asks how is it possible this is an ikea piece? It's modern and converts to a single sleeper. I will never part with it if I don't have to.

I've had a pair of these for about 4 years. bought mine in Sydney and have since moved back to the US with them. Friends keep asking where I got them. Really amazing sound and they work really well in my modern decor apartment.

I've seen a lot of people asking about this chair on various boards but I was able to locate it. The chair in Ricardo Villalobos' house is call the "Sarang" rattan armchair that was sold by Habitat UK. It's not available anymore from what I know but occaisionally one or two do become available on Ebay. Good luck in your hunting. I'm after one myself because a similarly crafted "egg chair" that it would go perfect with.
