My 18-month old won't touch anything green anymore and has decided that she doesn't like carrots. She lives on string cheese, mac and cheese (prefers Panera's), bananas, mandarin orange slices, fruit cups, strawberries, and yogurt (Yo-Baby and Yo-Toddler yogurts or plain Greek yogurt, which I mix with Plum Organics purees). She also loves peanut butter, graham crackers, and toast.

There's no way I could change my daughter in her crib. I'm short (5' 2") and since the crib doesn't have a drop-down side, I practically need a step stool just to get enough clearance to get her in the crib.

For the longest time, we just used a pack and play much like this one (minus the bassinet) instead of a crib and changing table. It had a diaper changing station and storage underneath.

What a sweet idea! I can't believe how sanctimonious people are over baggies! Geesh. I used to use reusable sandwich containers (also plastic, BTW) but got sick of washing them-not only wasting water but also time-not to mention the fact that a lot of days, those containers never made it back home. Maybe the dad here takes the time he could use washing up and spends it drawing these lovely pictures for his kids. I just can't believe how people can turn such a great thing into such a negative.

My in-laws don't keep a trash can, covered or otherwise, in any of their bathrooms, which means that anything that needs to get thrown away has to be walked to the kitchen and thrown away there. Gross! Think every bathroom should have a trash can. Facial tissues are nice too.

Strong Feelings about Bathroom Decor

Unlike a lot of people, we never asked for our parents' opinions when searching for a place to live. I think it's kind of weird that so many people feel the need to run a house by their parents before they buy it. Maybe because my parents never helped me with the money aspect? With that said, I think my mom would love our house. It's mid-century modern with a Frank Lloyd Wright bent. I think my dad and stepmom are just impressed with how clean we keep it.

What Do Your Parents Think of Your Home?

I totally get the "like a mom" aspect. I remember just hanging on by the skin of my teeth during the evening "witching hour," counting down until she would go to sleep and I could kick back with a big bowl of ice cream. It's true, I never craved sweets, and especially chocolate, like I did after she was born. I think the title is great because, as a mom, when I see the "like a mom" post, I'm more likely to pay attention because I know it will be something I can make and/or eat in hurry and simply. It's basically shorthand, and people should get over getting offended by everything.

Why are people so offended by the title of this post? I clearly remember my non-mom days, and I must say that I never had to think about foods easily eaten with one hand back then. Oh, sure, I sometimes worked and ate at the same time, but I could always stop typing and pick up a fork. Once my baby came along, I had to give my food choices some serious thought. Could I prepare it quickly, during those brief naps? Could I eat it with one hand, since the other hand was holding a nursing, burping or fretting baby? I used to joke that it wasn't the breastfeeding that took my baby weight off, rather it was not having time to eat or not being able to eat much in one sitting!

My brother and I used to flatten large cardboard boxes and then use markers to draw roads, parking lots, buildings, etc. And if Mattel is wondering, I'm a mother, and I clearly know how to play with Hot Wheels.

Cute baby, lovely room. The blanket hanging on the crib is adorable. I also like the dresser. I'm trying to convince my husband to paint our vintage (but not valuable) dresser white.

I save the plastic produce bags and put my scraps and refuse in those. I also clean as I go and making sure all of my ingredients are out on the counter before I start cooking. To save time on clean-up when I'm making something on the stove that tends to splatter, I remove any grills that won't be in use.

My mom used Dobies to wash dishes, and now that's what I use. I even took a package with me during my last vacation to Mexico! They are so much better than sponges or cloths. They last forever and are so easy to clean. I just pop mine in the microwave for a couple of minutes. When they get old, I retire them to floor duty. They're great for getting my terrazzo floors clean without scratching them. I am a faithful Dobie user!

Shredded cheese, shredded cabbage, and steam-in-the-bag vegetables, and fruit cups (I rinse off the syrup) are my "cheats." The fruit cups are great for my toddler. She eats such little portions that whole fruit would go bad before she could finish it. Plus, I hate prepping pineapple. I also like the big tub of peeled and chopped garlic from Costco.

It's really for the parents, but I like those kits that let you make your child's hand print into an ornament. As for the baby, mine really enjoyed her Skip Hop play mat and ring stacker.
