The "Sex" book by Madonna. I was about 15 when I got it (10 years ago) and it just made my day. At the time I didn't even know it could still be purchased by my friend really scoured for it and got it for me. Big surprise, and still one of my most prized possessions even though I now hate Madge.

Yeah, I seriously have David's head in my garden right this second. I've had it there for about two years. It looks like he is buried under the garden but just his head is exposed and surrounded by foliage.

This place is gorgeous. Amazing use of neutrals as base colors, with complementary reds, blues and greens in furniture and accessories. I love the wall stencils/murals. How did you do it?

monika1 - that's true about wood blocks and stuff. But how expensive is it in North America to get that kind of an antibacterial material? Also, with butcher blocks, they have to regularly get the top sawed off and start fresh. I know because I worked in the food industry with that sort of a surface and it would get pretty gross and smelly, not to mention how rough and worn it got from cutting on it.

Any colour or pattern will go with a chrome frame. Let your imagination run wild.

Hi Caroline, I think you have great taste and great ideas!

I would not be concerned with "shades/tones" of grey, since grey is not a colour (non-pigment) you can mix as many shades of it as you like! Imagine a black and white film - it's like that. I very much love the couch; is that the dark grey couch you speak of? It's not like mixing stains of wood which are pigmented (yellows, browns, etc.). That is the beauty of grey. So if you do have a stain of wood like in the floor, I would try to match all your wood to that stain if you do keep various shades of grey.

If anything in terms of repainting, repaint the staircase a pastel-greyed variation of any colour you like; my recommendation would be blue.

You also don't need to worry about wrought iron or stainless steel bannisters clashing with the stairs themselves because they would be black or silver/steel which also are not colours (in the same way that mirrors are not colours) and as long as you keep the style minimal and industrial, they should be lovely.

Also, try to illiminate whatever pure white is in there (baseboards, ceilings, etc.) with a very light, off-white dove grey.

At first I'm like: "why does this apartment look like a super-classy hotel?" Then I realized it's actually an Inn. Fantastic at that. Still, I don't know how I feel about the Italian-flag shaped smear.
