I'm lucky that my apartment complex has done most of the upgrades for me... cheep plastic blinds were swapped with 2" wide white wooden ones, florescent light in the kitchen was swapped out and trimmed with crown molding, and they're re-surfacing my kitchen and bathroom counters in a few weeks. In older apartments I've lived in, I've re-caulked the tub/shower, changed the blinds, painted walls, installed a window unit, replaced toilet seats, replaced outlet covers and light switch plates... I have a drawing of myself (possibly in charcoal?) that a friend of mine did in college for an art class. It's pretty large - maybe 16 x 24 - and no one thinks it actually looks like me. I haven't met a toddler yet that doesn't like to play in a toy kitchen (I teach Sunday school for two year olds). This kitchen is perfectly precious!! It looks like it might be in the grownup's kitchen color scheme. Looks about 100x better than the plastic, store-bought kitchens! Cute idea! Just not sure how well it will work out a couple months from now... Also, I'm pro-succulent. Liked them waaaaay before they were "cool". I have two that my grandmother planted...and she passed away nearly 25 years ago! They're the only plants I haven't managed to kill (knock on wood). Like the apartment, and I think you have a great start, but I feel like you def need a TV stand (or mount in on the wall like you said) and some sort of real bed.
