I grew up with a father on a low salt diet. My brother went one way, loving salt to excess, and I like only a tease of salt, or I get a stomachache because my body is used to having so little. And as someone who is chronically dehydrated, this is sometimes a problem because your body does need a little bit of salt to hold water in. Moderation in everything, I suppose.

Make sure you aren't allergic to stainless steel first, especially if you wash any dishes by hand. My parents have a stainless steel sink and when I was younger, I had constant rashes on my arms because I was too short not to rest my arms on the edge of the sink. Adding in dishwater just make it more painful.

This is what I lust after: http://www.amazon.com/Danby-DTT420-Portable-Washing-Machine/dp/B000N29VGY . Little portable twin tub washing machine. One tub to wash and rinse, one tub to spin dry so my clothes aren't heavy and dripping when I hang them to dry. It seems generally equivalent to having a mini washer and separate spin dryer, but in a more convenient package. Though the cleaning mechanism of the wonder washer, pressuring the water through the clothes, seems more efficient for cleaning than just agitation, and two separate machines would be better for replacement if things break. Just thinking aloud; I don't have my own place, yet, but I obviously spend a lot of time daydreaming about it.

It's really "pared down" but I giggled at "paired down to two". It's a pun that doesn't work so well in print but I love it no less.
