oops, i missed the comment above with the photographer link. apologies. it's a beautiful apartment... i just wish the photos weren't so heavily edited.

oh guys, i don't know. are these real photos or just really fantastic interior renders? i've never seen such a shiny TV screen in my life. and why is the (fake-looking) stool in the first picture reflecting off the floor like that? also, everything about the third picture looks fake.

i love literally everything about your living room and dining room. so many great details, and the colors are perfect.

my only suggestion is to put an area rug under the bed to make the room more cozy.

i can empathize with storage issues, but i'm not sure you've solved the shoe/purse issue in a design-contest-worthy manner. with those high ceilings and a fair amount of empty floor space in the living room, i'm sure you can come up with something better!

for me, this place is small/alright... and not really small/cool.

i love everything. everything everything everything.

i absolutely love the color palette. and those lucite (or whatever) high chairs... perfection! looks like your shelving unit the the kitchen is getting a bit overcrowded, but i know storage is a constant challenge in a place like this. you've done well!

the only thing i don't like is the off-center lion picture in the bedroom. seems out of place.

this place is AMAZING. i want it to be my second home (or i just want to steal all your furniture and move it into my place).

the office reminds me of a psychiatrist's office... but not in a bad way. i actually really like it. the only thing the whole place seems like it might be missing is window treatments.

the blue walls make me feel claustrophobic, too. or maybe it's the other colors in that space contrasting with such a bold tone...

i commend you on creating a cozy home in spite of an awkward floorplan. your bedding is adorable, and i like your other little decorations. my only suggestion is to hang the bike somewhere (wall or ceiling). it would look cool, and would make your bed area seem like more of a bedroom.

not into the whole palm-beach-overload thing, but i love how you've created so many distinct areas in such a small, open space. i really thought i'd barf if i saw another expedit in this competition, but you've managed to incorporate it beautifully! your apartment really has a unique, cohesive style... and that's worth major points.

this is truly a small COOL apartment. the double-duty staircase, the adorable lofted bed area, the fantastic closet... i love how everything looks, and i extra-love the efficiency/functionality. it seems like a cozy little cabin retreat.

two beautiful bedrooms in under 400 sf... amazing.

isn't your apartment more like 325 sf if you include the loft, kitchen and bathroom?

you've done well with such a small space, and you have fantastic light. there's too much "stuff" for my taste, but you if that's what makes you feel at home then kudos for making it all fit. seems like a nice place to come home to... and i fully support small/cozy sleeping areas!

thank you for the wonderful feedback! some answers to your questions:

@BANGS: the couches face two leather chairs to create a unified seating area. wish we could have captured the whole thing in a single photo.

@V.CUTINO + @MILLISLIM: the paint in the dressing room is actually black (although it looks grey here). i'd love to give you the info, but it's just "basic matte black" from a danish hardware store.

@V.CUTINO: you can find the "C" poster here: http://www.dr-adams.dk/vare/1384-playtype-c-poster

@azr2005: having friends over is a squeeze. we use the two chairs and bench for seating, and i throw a sheet over the dog crate (after thoroughly cleaning it) to make a table.
@steve from designblog: i don't consider my kitchen appliances to be a status symbol at all. if i want to bake something small, the toaster oven is an energy saver. the soda machine cuts down on the use of plastic bottles (and is very economical). i use the coffee maker to brew a bunch at once, then refrigerate it for iced coffee. i use the blender to puree soups. the microwave… yes, i suppose i could do without that. i rarely use it.
@moke076: the boots on the left are vintage. coach makes the pair on the right (from 2008).
@emilyjoyce: the leaning desk is from ikea (just tried to find it on their site but i don't see it).

your kitchen... everything about it... SWOON. also love the bedroom with the floating nightstands and the shelf + cabinets above the bed.

you guys are seriously inflating my ego.
@ohmydarlin that's a shelf on top of the crate. i got it at the container store from the discount pile (i think it was part of a set that was damaged, but that piece was fine)
@trisher yes, he's an australian cattle dog. SO MUCH ENERGY.
@soozieQ ha! the bathroom has a door. i forgot to draw it in the floorplan.
@shapjap the rack, bars, hooks, spice rack, and "flower pots" in the kitchen are all from ikea. the rack specifically is grundtal http://bit.ly/eQWDfM and here are some other hanging accessories http://bit.ly/faZa2I

wow, thank you for the wonderful comments! (and special thanks to the dog lovers who understand that square footage and pet-happiness can be mutually exclusive)
@ppelavin the blue and white frames are from ikea, although they were initially yellow and black—i painted them. the circular frame is also ikea: ung drill.
@kvaty i didn't ask the landlord before painting the cabinets (i'm sure he would have said no). apologize later, right?

@pier723 thank you! those actually aren't chalkboard pieces on the kitchen cabinets. i applied chalkboard paint directly to the wood (one coat of primer and two coats of paint). you can find it at home depot.

hi everyone, thank you for the kind comments!
@diridi you're correct, the apartment was too small for my dog. he was a rescue, so our little home was much better than the shelter. but, i've since made the (heartbreaking) decision to send him to ohio to live on a farm. now he has the wiiiide open spaces he deserves.
@usagi the mirror is from ikea (mongstad)
@pier723 there's *just* enough space to open the oven door or stand in front of the stove (but not both!)
@rachaelk definitely no space for a sitting area. eating/reading/socializing/etc... all bed-activities.

@chrisgal agreed. the office also seems to have a larger closet than the bedroom.

can't decide if it's unfair that this house has a basement, or if i'm just very jealous :)

lovely use of soft colors. feels beachy.
