Well, the issue is the cooking odors in a small apartment such mine. And in another situation, I got a wide/large kitchen compared to a small living-room. I don't have bought the coach/sofa yet but anticipating its location, it seems once seated you just feel being in the kitchen... Making this kind of separation helps give a better feeling, not living in the kitchen... I moved in last September and still got boxes to unpack and works to do. I hope I'll soon be able to apply at any "Small Room" event or House Tour to show you.

This is one of my projects: building this kind of industrial/factory style separation between the kitchen and living-room. This is a way of keeping the functional spaces and merging natural light sources....

Got one since the day I was fed up to loose track of my keys, profesional and national ID, etc. I opted for a simple IKEA flowers pot cover (cache-pot). It is very convenient and small enough to prevent me throwing in everything else (and it has a special little design I like).

No paint! I appreciate painted furnitures when that makes them fresher and nicer but I also appreciate "dust off" ones that kept their initial patina and look. This is a great job, really.

I would take off all the drawers faces and cabinets doors and replace them with new ones. If you stick to them, all of the comments above are rights: it is easily possible.

I would have pushed the dare even farer (Can we say so? I don't know if it's correct) to paint them vibrant colors like fuchsia or turquoise...

I really appreciate this sense of creativity that involves parents and their kids. It has a kind of knowledge transmission that is important for intellectual and psychological development of children, in my opinion.

I'm skeptical about the alarm/smoke detector as I don't think I could hear it and get awaken if it had detected invading smoke during my deep sleep.... Thus it looks charming, I wouldn't feel safe and protected with it. According to me, safety siren alarms shouldn't be toned down...

Well, on cannot forget all of those low cost tablet under $100... They are cheap, slow, smoothless, basic, unappealing to use on long term, etc. Most of them run under Windows CE or a basic Android system. Got an iPad and I'm happy with it. I got a low cost android tablet too and barely can use it...

Congrats Matt!!! I really appreciate the way things work out together. I like those little subtle choices of decor, details and colors. The bathroom floor is really bringing in there the overall taste of your home. Another chevron supporter!

You could use them as corniche details. All along the wall, at the upper corner (with the ceiling), glue them repeatedly along a kind of trim to create your own molding with repeat crenel/slots.
