So those work? I bought something similar from JML and it's much worse than my "normal" mats!

All cafes put cocoa powder on capuchinos here in the UK.

They do have Flat White on the menu, the "Gibraltar" is also known as a "noisette" in France, and the Cortade is just a latte macchiato!

That's like my ricer, madhausfrau! If you can roll it out, it's pasta, not spƤtzle.

I make spaetzle with a potato ricer. It's got two inserts, one with small holes for potatoes and one with larger holes for making spaetzle.

I'd put up some really simple coving around the ceiling and paint it white. Then paint the walls and light, warm grey. Get gunmetal curtain poles with light teal finials, and white curtains with a grey toile pattern. White, wrought iron bed, light teal bed linen and lampshades. Sand and varnish the floor, put a grey patterned rug on top.

Oh, and check those ceiling tiles are fire retardant, otherwise you'll have to rip them out first.

Emmi: yes, dishwashers use less water and are better for the environment, especially because most of them have an economy setting nowadays.

That aside, I've always used a brush for any stray bits, using a cloth is just icky.

I had a red chimney breast and red velvet curtains in my old house, and it looked magnificent. We thought we'd go for a change of colours in our new house, but now we're leaning towards red again. Grey walls and red curtains and accents this time.

But post recession? Not in Britain, it ain't.

A floor like that goes really well with bright, fuchsia pink. So I suggest a pink shower curtain and accessories with pink polkadots.

It also goes with a lot of other colours, so keep it. One day your daughter will be seeing spots, and not in a good way.

Great find! I'm actually tall, but my even taller brother in law put the cupboards up a tad too high!

Don't hire professionals, just get a really good vacuum cleaner brush. One of those "pet" ones. If we'd hired professionals, we'd have paid the entire deposit in cleaning fees!

Also, we'd painted the walls in bright colours, but because the curtains we left matched, the landlord was fine with them.

I was going to do this with my bedroom. The walls are a light powdery blue and the ceiling is white and low. Leaving it unfinished really "pulled up" the ceiling, until my mother "helpfully" finished the edges!

Quirky "Unfinished" Paint Jobs

We moved 2 weeks ago, and we're still finding broken stuff. But that's not the worst of it: my favourite necklace has been "misplaced" by the removal guys - they got hold of it before I could put it with the rest of my jewellery, which I moved myself - and my wallet vanished from my purse. It had no money in it, but it did have the only picture I had of my son when he was little.

I'd go with a very light aqua, a lime green or a very light yellow. Nothing brown, I think it'd make you feel like you were in a posh hotel rather than a home.
