Love the bay window photos. What did you use for your (modular?) bookshelves along the floor in front of it? Do you find that they collect dust bunnies positioned like that on the floor? I also love your doors to the kitchen with the glass panes--those kinds of doors seem like little nonexistent wisps, they're not as visually heavy as solid doors. Any apartment with plants gets my "super cool" vote. Anyone can look in a West Elm catalog and imitate the MCM look. You went in a different direction and stood by your design choices. From what I could see, your sunlight is pretty indirect, so good work keeping the plants alive. Can you get plants to flower inside your place? You nailed the botanical design motif. The red cabinet doors in the kitchen are very cute. I'm not that enthused about the contact paper, but it is understandable considering the alternative. I like it. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Southwest #9: Gretchen's "The Place I Call Home" |

LuluLiz, the art table is a DIY piece. Thank you for noticing. The frame and legs are poplar (which is a very hard-grained, hard-to-abuse wood) and the top is MDF. The top can be repainted whenever it gets covered in ink/scratched up too badly, to keep the work surface smooth. The legs are detachable and store up inside the frame--a consideration I included because we rent, so we'll eventually have to move the thing. Beer bottles? No. Most are soda. One is bourbon. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Midwest #7 - Brian & Christina's Treetop Bower |

Neat floorplan--all those nooks and crannies. I like the built-in bookshelves, and I bet the place looks great lit up at night. But in that cool sunlight it comes across as cold and austere to a fault (which may help set the "hospital suite" tone of that first photo). I think it needs some bolder colors to break up the monochrome. Apartment Therapy New York | East #15: Petie's Gramercy Pad |

Nice. Is that some kind of flat-screen monitor in the kitchen, just through the doorway and to the right? Apartment Therapy New York | East #14: Kristin's Cozy Village Studio |

If you're just curious about growing your own tree, or can't buy a larger tree from a nursery, I think this kit would work. Or, you could just go out in the woods and gather your own seeds for free (which is how I do it). Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Tree Growing Kit at Canoe |

You have an interesting floorplan layout--you have to go through the kitchen to get to the bathroom or bedroom. The white is very peaceful, but there's very little variation that I can see. It looks like every room and furnishing is based around the "white" philosophy, which is definitely cohesive, but it started to bore me. As others have noted, some accents of color are needed to keep it lively and interesting. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Northwest #3: Lana's Coffee Capital Digs |

Keeping with the "lodge" design philosophy, I liked how the rustic touches I saw (especially the panelled walls) meshed with the more urbane design elements. However, there just wasn't enough of this contrast to keep me completely interested in the entire space. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Southwest #8: The White Lodge |

Bravo for your craftiness/handiness; the best solution in a small space often requires the ability to customize or build from scratch. I also think your kitchen is beautiful--but are those mugs hung from the edge of the shelf? I would be constantly worried about inadvertently bumping them loose. I'm not exactly sold on the floating TV aesthetically, but functionally it's a good idea. Looks like your place is great for entertaining. Carly, it does have a particularly Gallic charm, but I feel like you're trying to fit provincial farmhouse style into the space of a Parisian garret--the space makes me feel slightly claustrophobic. Of course, you feel fine in it, and that's what is important. I'm sure when you get your first place after graduating, it'll be amazing. I'm assuming that's a futon for M. Cole to sleep on? I like the interplay of red and yellow, but there's a bit too much red in that main room for me. I really like the effect of the red wall behind the stereo and records, but behind the futon it's too much for me in that small room--did you consider just painting one wall of the main room as an accent? All the patterns and colors are visually complex, and while I don't necessarily like all of the combinations personally, I think this entry is notable and commendable for providing counterpoint to the minimalist design philosophy that pervades the competition. I, too, understand the extra challenge in improving a space that you do not own, so I think Eddie has done a remarkable job. I like seeing some houseplants in there (so many entries have overlooked this simple design element), and the style seems cohesive enough. The only thing bothering me is the mismatched chairs, but others seem to not mind. Eddie, do you have any way to section off the sleeping area from the eating/entertaining area, if need be? I couldn't tell if you had a curtain or anything separating the spaces. Apartment Therapy New York | East #11: Eddie's West Village Studio |

I love the way your apartment is laid out. The rooms have a nice flow to them. How do you use that first room, the little junction space right after the entry way? We get a little glimpse of a chair in that space in one photo, but I want to see more. Bold move in painting a small kitchen black--it's impressive that you pulled it off. I also think the conversion of that powder room/closet/antechamber to the bathroom into an office was a smart decision. The only thing missing are some houseplants, since you have all that light in the main room. Apartment Therapy New York | East #10: Yiming's Mahattan Prewar Studio |

It seems very secluded and quiet--I chalk that up to your excellent lighting and color sensibility. However, it does seem like there are little clusters of life and interest separated by expanses of emptiness. For example, the corner in your first photo is great, but then the area around the sofa seems a little lifeless. I had a difficult time imagining everything together as a cohesive interior. From one renter to another, however, I know how difficult it can be to walk the fine line of improving the space without spending too much money on an apartment that you'll ultimately move out of. Great find on that sofa. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Southwest #4: Taylor's Best Things In Life Are Free |

That's funny about the "walk-in closet." I wonder if originally that little space was supposed to be a bedroom (because how many closets are designed with windows?), then in more modern times it was reclassified as a walk-in closet and the apartment considered a studio instead of a one-bedroom. And now you've basically turned the studio back into a one-bedroom... interesting how society's perception of space changes over time. I'm usually put off by the all-white look, but this one is slightly different and I am impressed. Maybe all of those modernist gew-gaws fooled me into thinking I was at a museum of modern art? The red light on that roasting oven reminds me of HAL from 2001; is the roasting oven watching you and calculating your demise, Trilby? I am curious as to what you have done with that devilishly long and contorted entry hallway. All in all, a strong contender. Apartment Therapy New York | East #8: Trilby's New York Minute Retreat |

Yolanda, your design sensibility is superb, and I love the white rooms filled with light (what I would give for your alcove!). I'm assuming you don't have puppy paws clambering over all that white furniture, and I have visions of nightmarish red wine incidents, but it still looks great.
