I think that it is all about the attitude that you walk in with--the people who work here have always been nothing but wonderfull to me and, very sadly, I've never even bought anything. The place is a treasure of beatiful midcentury antiques. I would recommend it to any of my friends--priced as it is! Thanks RAM, you guys do a great job!

I lived in Wicker Park too and would always run down Hoyne wondering who lived in all those beautiful homes. Your place was spectacular. You guys have a beautiful eye.

I think it should also be noted that replacing an outdated mirror/medicine cabinet with a framed mirror (like the one shown above) is also an instant boost to a bathroom making it look more modern.

Ha, I can relate to this post completely. The first time my boyfriend and I had a party after living together, we spent at least eight hours the day of the party doing last minute things to make our place presentable. As in, there was paint drying on shelves and paintings, etc. But, our place is great now. I think we just needed the push ;)

I would update the rooms with some more contemporary peices (mirrors, lighting, etc.), but the papers are so in right now. I would also make sure to keep the "vintage with contemporary accents" theme throughout the house. Have fun with your new home!

I also think the tiolet paper holder's geometric pattern contrasts too much with the more organic patterns that are happening in the room and it competes with the floor. I second the curtains being too short.

Your dresser is superfun too! Did you apply a gloss or is the paint just that shiny? Love it!

Um, I aspire to have a place like yours when I get a home of my own. I think I am going to send the slideshow to my boyfriend to show him my dream!

There is so much emphasis on details when looking at 2 individual peices together. Unless the room you are putting the furniture in is going to be completely stark, I would say that the furniture legs don't need to match at all, so long as the other design elements in the room tie in together. The key things to consider when putting together your room, is you have now chosen a "metal" theme (steel) and wood theme (black wood.) If I were designing this room, I would build upon these things.

I just went to Paperboy for the first time this past weekend (1351 W Belmont). I actually read about it on this site. And, it was as fun and inspiring as I thought it would be. When I was looking around, I instantly thought how wonderful their beautifully patterned paper would look framed on a wall. This would be a cheap and easy way to add some punch to your wall. You should check it out.
