Does anyone remember the dining room in Cache?

Not taking your shoes off at the door, from my experiences, seems to be an american thing. I don't know any canadians that would not do this.

Turquoise may be pretty intense with the red, of course that may be exactly what you want. If you want to play it down a bit what about a robin's egg blue? I know it's obvious but it is a great color combination.

Randal, did you paint the bedroom yourself? I recently bought the high-end BM high gloss latex paint in navy and painted my room. I used a low pile roller but, while I had envisioned an almost laquer finish, I ended up with lap marks and the slight orange-peel effect from the roller. I am SO dissapointed! I'm considering just going with a satin finish and repainting. I've painted the rest of my place and I've never gotten lap marks with eggshell so I don't think it's just that I'm using bad technique.

No one seems to have any suggestions for me other than, "don't use high-gloss paint on walls, that's just silly", even at paint stores.

Can anyone help?

Your Garden of Earthly Delights is a booze cabinet...how great is that?! There's nothing better than some humour in a home.

Two tips if you're having one of your own images printed for a lightbox:

1. Ask the shop to print one stop darker than it's proper exposer. If it's printed without the consideration that it's going to be backlit, it will be washed out. "Stopping down" will ensure a good saturation of colors.

2. Make sure it's not done on paper that has the brand name printed all over the back of it!

We're not getting our money's worth unless there's a secret scrotum department....seriously.

I don't think it's so much offensive as it is just plain ridiculous. That, and it looks like something every first year art student would come up with.

That sounds like a great solution to a sheet rock wall, good luck! Sorry I have no suggestions for this, I just thought I would cheer you on since that first post was not the most encouraging.
