I have always hated brass. Brass fixtures? U.G.L.Y. It always seemed so tacky and cheap and generic. I would continually say how much I hated brass. It hurt my eyes. Who could possibly choose, brass? Urgh. Etc.

Now, I am finding myself in love with brass, in particular brass lighting. (I cannot believe I am putting that in print.) But, look at the lights in these pictures http://www.dwellstudio.com/bedding/duvet-cover-and-sets.html. Love.

Look at images of Sarah Richardson's summer home. I believe she used a technique called pickling to give the pine a lighter color. You can still see the wood grain and can tell that it is pine paneling, but it is much lighter and brighter. It is beautiful.

I'm not sure how I feel knowing that Rachel Zoe has the same lamps as me (the black and white lamp in picture 4). It is one of my favorite things in my house.

I am in the exact same dilema. My plan is to use blue polka-dot (white with blue polka-dots, not the blue-on-blue set) Land of Nod crib sheets for both the crib and toddler bed. For the boy, to be born in December, I will use the construction themed bedding. For the girl, 2, I will use the blue "With a Flourish" bedding. The blues for both sets work together. I will add accents of grey, orange, and red. I think the unified color scheme will pull it all together. I will let you know in a couple weeks, when my plan is actually executed, if I was able to make it work.

Shop vac and ladder! Not exactly design inspiration, but very practical.

I just went through your EXACT same dilema, same colors and everything, about 3 weeks ago. I ended up choosing Gray Owl. I am very happy with my choice. I was also really worried about it being too dark, especially in the morning light. Once I had all my walls painted, it was not too dark at all. I actually wonder if I should have gone a tiny bit darker. Sometimes, I think that there is not enough contrast between the wall color and the white ceiling. So, now I want to install crown molding.

I live in the city and had several large planter stolen two summers ago. I planted them the summer I was hugely pregnant. Needless to say I was very unhappy. The next summer we got some of the stainless steel planters from CB2 and screwed them down into our wood porch. It makes me smile to think of anyone trying to steel those!
