Party Architecture: How To Throw the Best Party

I love this easy way of making dried black beans! I added 3 cut up garlic cloves, salt, cumin seeds, bay leaves, put the pot in the stove and it came out perfect. Very hands off! Thank you!!

Some of the pics on your blog would have worked great for the CONTEST.

I like how creative you are as far as the use of objects to achieve your colorful room. Rather than a cool paint color that was created by a guy named Benjamin or a gal named Martha. You've got my vote. Great job!

You really made all the colors and patterns work well together. I like the little dog house with the stuffed animal in it.

Ok, so I have been living in my teeny apartment for 6 months, and today I hung my first painting. Thanks, Maxwell, they were gathering dust under my bed.

Thing is, it looks SO low. I hung it next to my dresser which is about 50 inches tall. Does the 57" midpoint still apply here? Is there a forum where I can email an image? I've emailed AT a couple of times and I don't want to rank stalker status by emailing again.

Oh, and another thing. The heater thermostat (on another wall) is smack dab in the center of the wall at 53 inches. Any recommendations on how to hide it?

Thanks you, and I'm sad this cure is ending :(

My medicine cabinet is pretty organized. I don't have a "under the sink" area because it's a pedestal sink. So, underneath that I have a basket and a big clear bag of cosmetics- which desperately needs some tending to.

Well, I didn't actually "fix" anything, but I did finish painting a ceramic vase. It had been sitting unfinished for MANY years. It's at the ceramic joint waiting to be fired.

Wow, I'm shocked at how many people have such an incredible aversion to just BEING- being with themselves without pacifiers.

I don't have a tv, and though I love music, I do not have to have it on all the time. So at first I thought this would be easy. But no internet? No talking or texting on my phone? Oh dear, a big challenge but I'm gonna show up and just do it.

I'm having anxiety over this cure. Most of my books are for reference. What if I need to refer to something I've given away? I'm going to do my best to purge. I like the idea of using paperbackswap.com.

Ugh...feeling....tightness...in my....throat.....

Oh dear. I was contemplating getting rid of an old cd tower. It's beautiful and decorative, BUT I never use it! It's been in my closet for 5 months and before that it was just collecting dust for a year (or two). So, I thought, "Mellowhome, this is a really nice piece, just put it back in the closet." Then I cut my finger on it!

So now, my cd's are in shoe boxes waiting to be uploaded onto my iTunes. And the beautiful case is sitting by the door waiting to find it's new owner. It was time to say goodbye.

I live in a 425sq ft studio apartment. So the small vases will be nice for my small bits of surface area.

@BotanysDesire where did you post your pics?

@Maxwell, you look so different in video than in still photos- more handsome in video.

Is there a new Flikr group for this year's Cure? I did a search and only came up with '10.

This will take much more than 20 minutes, but I'm totally inspired to go to Goodwill to find some small vases. I rarely (twice a year, maybe) buy flowers. So this is a nice motivator. Thanks Maxwell and everyone for contributing with your posts. Feels like community. I love it!

I chose my kitchen as the room to clean today. I think I would have managed to do the floors, baseboards AND window sills if I didn't have to wash the dishes that were in the sink.

So here's what I did in the 20 minutes (plus about 20 extra seconds)

Vacuum with my Bissell "Power Edge Pet"- the BEST vacuum for pet hair. Only flaw is that it doesn't have attachments. It's sold at Target but they are usually out of stock. Check out the Bissell website if you want to buy it, I think they have free shipping.

Then I used the attachments on my other Vacuum to do the baseboards.

Washed dishes.

Mopped the floor, used the mop to get some of the baseboard crud off that the vacuum didn't get.

I like this project! Thank you and I'm looking forward to tomorrow, Maxwell. Oh, and for anyone who's done this in the past, is it imperative to get the book? Thank you.

Who does that? I've never even considered swapping conventional for organic...my mind just doesn't work that way. Great tips! Thank you!
