I wonder if these parents know the psychology behind this shade of blue. The color is DEPRESSING! Not soothing as in some of the lighter shades. personally I think it was just another room in the house for the mother to make her "design" mark. It looks like a store front. Not particularly great taste at all, not timeless, just what's "au curant" - what adults want to see. Incredibly contrived.

Fashion show or house tour? hmm? not sure!
Am I looking at AT or Anthropolgie
Really tired of seeing so many people feature themselves and family in their spaces no matter how pretty the faces!
AT ..please do a better job editing or have more stringent ( photo op ) policies in what's acceptable for house tour format.

In a small probably dark house such as this one, I'd take all the amazing color and personality any day over the depressing ( before ) greige!
Bravo! :)

House is beautiful..great color everywhere. Pricey designer furniture and lighting so it's hard to go wrong as each piece holds its' own no matter where you put it.
My favorite thing is the bird lamp:)
The pets are indeed wonderful!

Ok .. so I love it too, particularly the green and white combo. It's young and inviting.
As for the floors, I actually would have gone a step further and painted them white.
But this is your room and I'm sure you feel very good when you walk in to this room- as well you should! :)

Slicing then freezing is the key!
Also you can add berries and applejuice and blend further to get a smoothie without the ice.

Melted caramel goes along way with this too then it's almost Dulce de Leche. Vanilla Essence/bean is interesting added to it to ( use real please!! - it makes a HUGE difference ).

Such a nice, nice. NICE home!
Special touches everywhere and though edited, very well edited, without seeming contrived.

The best part is Miss Pup..she looks like a happy, well loved dog- she's smiling! I particularly love that you can see the reflection of the photographer in the bedroom night table!

I am leaving my second comment!Though the first one was not a bad comment, it appears my first try has been removed... as have quite a few others?

Again, the choices above are a BIG surprise.
I think there were a lot more entries that were as interesting, if not more so. These seem a little understated for a color contest.

Love the dogs! Nice house!
But all I see is too much teak and walnut ( ie brown ).
Dining room light is much too high! try lowering it to be 29-31" off the top of the table.

Lots of furniture with similar legs.. a sea of brown legs!

Dining room rug is way too small too.

Not feeling relaxed. Feeling like I'm in a vintage store in Sweden.

Love the fact that he puts it out there though.
And really it is quite nice overall. Very neat!

Just for everyones info. OSB is a pretty environmentally sound product. It's off gassing is minimal (under the industry standard) and it can be sealed thus eliminating the exposure to formaldehyde.

As for it's environmental impact, it using young growth trees, saving old growth forests..and though there are resins used in its fabrication..those too are under investigation for how much they do actually harm the environment as very little osb seems to end up being thrown out. Make no mistake, Plywood is a lot worse for the world!

I personally love the texture of osb. We in the states have much to learn about veneers and fabricated wood products. WE STILL HAVE THIS ABSURD NEED FOR PURE OLD TREES IN OUR HOMES..too bad because we cant grow the forests in our life time.

Engineered wood products are wonderful in many ways. We have to keep demanding that the industry finds safe glues and establish the best recycling programs. It is just as much a consumer concern that these are implemented as it is for the manufacturers.

Alan has done a wonderful job here. Perhaos not to everyones own taste. I think it's fab and he should be commended for staying OUT OF THE BIG BOX STORES...where everything comes from CHINA. One of the biggest polluters in the world!

Looks like a very expensive boutique hotel. As a designer myself I know all the finishes in this home were very very expensive. 110% custom!
I don't find it personal at all. I find it showy..the only thing charming is the outside and the size!

Ikea is wonderful.. HOWEVER must their ideas and pricing perpetuate the notion that we live in a throw-a-way society? It seems so!!

PEOPLE, please buy the most expensive sofa, chairs, table etc., you can afford & preferably made from sustainable lumber/ wood sources!

AND opt for fabrics free form mercury, noxious dyes and chemical treatments.

The more organic and nature friendly "stuff" we demand as a "public with a conscience" the more industry will have to meet those demands!
DOWN with PETROLEUM and IN with vegetable alternatives.. and trust me there are lots! YOU do not have to sacrifice comfort, look or cost!

Remember the more we buy of organic/natural products the lower the price goes:)

Make the oil companies change for us..why give them one more freakin' dime.

Ideas from IKEA rock tho!
Peace:)
