Natural neutrals are my go-to favourite when decorating. edmundd - I think the key to making it work is to incorporate a few pops of colour as in this room (the red of the artwork and the blue of the chair cushions). If not it can look a bit 'blah'. :)

moonbase alphan. Wrong! I have been doing this for the last 2 years and it works perfectly. I think that apartment therapy adhere to the rule of: "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all" Sound advice if you ask me.

when in doubt - IKEA. They always have a sensibly priced solution, if you change your mind in the future you haven't lost any money.

Also, I think you should rehang the artwork in your loving space. Centre at 60 (inches) has always been a useful tool for me. Good luck in the contest!

I think the photos don't do this home justice. The *bedroom* probably isn't as claustrophobic as the photo makes it seem. I applaud the excellent use of space, the fabulous media unit, the uniqueness of the space and cast another vote for a full tour. I'd really like to see the dining area. Hoorah for the UK!

Wow - if I lived here I would not have my sofa facing the tv - those views!

Hi Danielle. If you are planning on having children I would suggest saving the dress for your daughter to play "dress-up" in. I remember doing this with my mammas wedding dress and can recall the feeling of connection it gave me to her special day.

If you do want to make a display on top of the units you need to add some visual interest; at the moment it is too 'uniform'. Find one large framed piece of artwork you really like, then add a couple of plants and a few smaller artworks or treasured pieces. Good luck!

I have two painted chalk board areas in my kitchen and have never been bothered by chalk dust. Just sayin.

How funny, I just did the opposite; swapped a much longed for (small) Tulip table for a large and bulky farmhouse table! Whilst I loved the tulip tables stylish good looks and mid century vibe, the farmhouse suits my lifestyle much better. I love that I can have laptop and work piled up one end and still have room to eat at the other. I think the most important thing in any design decision is to use the space to suit your life :)

I love homes that clearly reflect what the occupants enjoy, in this case, watching tv/films in multiple spaces! Hoorah for doing what you want with your home :)

Original, stylish, full of personality, artistic, vintage+modern balance just right, and cats. What's not to love?! A perfect home, bravo.
