My wife would love this. We have very different tastes, and this bridges both of our design ideals. Great idea!

Love it! Dreaming of it. Might propose to it.

That is the exact colour of the tile accent in the backsplash of my new kitchen!

I love it all, but would use the dutch oven to make beef stew with a cider base. Topped with mashed garlic potatoes. Hmmm...now I am making myself hungry!

Congratulations to the winner - this is a gorgeous prize!

I just had an offer accepted on a fixer-upper bungalow, and could really use this kind of inspiration!

This is a favorite of mine - I love the DIY of it, and how original your creativity makes this space. Also, I love the baby in the video - so cute!

Sadly, a lot of very fun stuff for kids just isn't distributed in the US, in part because of the way the toy industry is structured there. But the link is to Tokyo Jazz Panda (UK), and they are very easy to order from in the US - they will give a US$ price for their items, which makes it super easy to order from them.

Ditching the changing table is a great idea....then you can spend that money at yard sales on classic children's books, and/or a gently used rocking chair.

There is actually a great example of someone scoping out elfa and then going the Ikea route here:

(scroll down for the closet shot). Leeza did an amazing job on that closet!

I brew orange pekoe tea (the cheap stuff sold in bulk boxes) and use it on my floors after I have cleaned them, diluted in some warm water and applied via a regular sponge mop. Makes them lustrous (for their age) and the dog scratches are much less noticeable.

I bet with the judicious application of small magnets, I could get that spinner to always land on 'DAD'.

I know that the kitchenware is in the Chicago stores already - I saw the Maidenhair Fern dinnerware in Macys a few weeks ago - very pretty!

Eliza, I am in Chicago (the city proper, not the 'burbs), and until I knew when to look, and where, I never saw a bat. They are impossible to see once it gets dark - they move too fast, and too erratically. But now I know where to look, and it helps that we have both the little brown bats, and the 12" wingspan ones, which are easier to spot!

I don't know NYC at all, but this blog post seems to suggest that there are bats in the area.

I love them! I bet I haven't had more than 5 mosquito bites in the last 5 years, and I am gardening every day.
