Haha, love it. I've been wanting to have a classic recipes party (ie. pull out all those Rotary, church and fundraiser cookbook compilations). I’ll definitely add this recipe to the list!

I also have the memory of when I first tasted plain vanilla extract, ick. Talk about something not tasting like it smells! Nielsen Massey is my go to vanilla.

allrecipes.com has a calculator where you can reduce the number of servings in a recipe and it will tell you the new amount of ingredients. I've only tried it a couple times on things that seemed somewhat easy and straightforward. Of course then you have to deal with things like only needing a third of an egg...

This was the first google search that came up. I can't say I've used this conversion but seems like it would work. http://www.bhg.com/recipes/how-to/bake/convert-a-cake-recipe-into-cupcakes/

I have used this web site chart http://www.bakedecoratecelebrate.com/techniques/amountbakingguide.cfm?cat=1 to determine other cake sizes and it worked great for my recipe conversion, but alas no conversions for cupcakes

A family friend hosted a bridal luncheon for my wedding. Complete with invitations, place cards, punch and cheese straws (that's right it was a southern affair). It was lovely and I believe that a lot of the food she made ahead of time, including a strange (but absolutely delicious) frozen raspberry jello-y concoction. I'm still working on getting the recipe from her cause as weird as it sounds everyone loved it.

Perfect timing! I had a drink a couple weekends ago with Chai Liquor. I'm hoping to make an infused vodka as a replacement in the drink, so this is a perfect start for ingredients.

I agree with Kariwk, the final product from the site looks dense, so it could just be the recipe. I would also highly suggest using bread flour not AP. I know there is a little bit of a conversion when switching it in a recipe, but I found a huge difference when using bread flour versus AP. Good luck!

When we bought a new stove, they told us it was a risk that the top could crack with the use of cast iron, but the biggest issue was that it can scratch. Needless to say we went with old fashioned coils (no gas in my area or it would have been my first choice) so we didn't have to risk it. Love the idea of using a silpat under cast iron to prevent scratching, I just wonder how hot it gets since a previous post said silpats are only safe up to 480.
