I sent in this same question a couple months ago (http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/ny/good-questions/good-questions-reupholstering-an-eames-knockoff-062618) and "spanky's" instructions were good enough that I tried this myself. In short, REALLY easy.

I did mine in green corduroy because I wanted a non-leather Eames chair, and it looks fantastic (I'm intending to send in pictures once I find the cord to my digital camera). The material was cheap and good looking, and the construction of the chair actually makes it one of the easiest possible DIY reupholstery projects (if you read the instructions on the post I linked you'll understand why, I think). It was the first thing I'd ever tried to reupholster and I'm really pleased with the results.

And, just in response to all the "OH NOES YOU'LL DEVALUE IT" comments. Jesus christ. It's a chair. You know, for sitting, curling up in, and living around. One day it will be trash, and until then it's for using. Do whatever makes you happy.

Quicksilver, a launcher app for OS X available for free at blacktree.com, is by far the most useful single utility for the system. It's user configurable and lets you control the entire operating system from your keyboard.

I'd love the Space Station.

The Furniture Lounge in Champaign, about 2 hours from Chicago, is freaking awesome. I've furnished most of my apartment (on a grad student budget) with their bargain mid-C stuff. And, to illustrate how worthwhile they are, that includes 2 (two!) Selig rip-offs of Eames recliners, for less than $200 each.

I really can't say enough how awesome the Furniture Lounge is.

I have an IKEA foam mattress, and am also a firm mattress lover (stomach sleeper). I've had two different mattresses from them over the last five years (because of moving, not because of them wearing out), and I love them. I would recommend the mid- to high-end foam mattresses over the memory foam mattresses.

I would love to get it and sell it to someone who appreciates really uncomfortable furniture.
