Most importantly I would build out the wall around the trapezoid shape and sheet rock it leaving one large flat wall behind the mantel. That shape is out. It will bring the room into this century. Paint the shelves a satin Black and choose a color medium to deep color behind them. Hivemind Designer: What Would You Do With This Wall? |

Seeing all these "found" objects for sale at high prices makes me a little sad. It has all the trappings of the days when artists with no money and eccentric tastes would go into failing decrepit neighborhoods, use limited resources and a little imagination to make them habitable. Because they were rendered safe and trendy, they ultimately were bought up and forced out by the very rich. Its happening with objects now. Find them interesting functional and cheap... now they're branded chic, being hoarded and no longer affordable to the very people who embraced their simple usefulness. Resto's Return, Chapter 2 or... Such an important post! Most of us know how many ways we can arrange our living spaces, and how choosing minimal over clutter can reflect our personalities. But so often we are unaware of how our space can control the way we feel in them. As an artist, objects are always being added and as I work on projects I notice how the clutter begins to close in on me. I'm forced to stop what I'm doing, clean up and reorganize . In doing that my mind also becomes uncluttered and clear. The space becomes open , empty and sacred awaiting my next creative urge.
