My favorite amongst all the favorites!! I need a source list for practically everything in your apartment. Great job :) Also, just out of curiosity, which neighborhood do you live in? I used to live in Lakeview in Chicago.

Yay UES (my former neighborhood)!! I love your home and think you're incredibly lucky to have such a great landlord.

I, too, love the minimalism. I especially love your hardwood floors. Can you please tell me where you got the shelves in your bathroom that are just above the toilet? I have a teeny tiny bathroom and this would be perfect for that! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for putting this article together. As someone who moved from New York City a year ago, has been living in Long Beach for the last year and is about to move to Culver City next month, I truly miss being able to leave my apartment without even thinking about my commute, who is going the be the designated driver for the night, and which highways to avoid because it's "that" time of day. No offense, but lots of people here are too spoiled to leave their fancy cars and use public transportation. I'm seeing a lot of comments from what seems to be the minority of people who DO embrace public transportation here, because I've barely encountered anyone here who uses public transportation regularly, if at all. One of the reasons I am moving to Culver City is so that I can take the train to work in DTLA and can read a book and be in a much calmer frame of mind when I actually reach work. Just curious, for the people who take public transportation to and from work, do you take it to meet friends for dinner, drinks, shopping etc? Because that is what I miss being able to do.

Your headboard is gorgeous! Would your husband be willing to make me one? (I'm only half kidding about that, btw) I love the touch of roses and those tarnished metal trays. We are moving soon and I will surely use this as inspiration for decorating my own bedroom! Thank you for sharing.

I'd like to suggest Indian and Italian cuisine. I am a hard core meat eater but when I eat foods from those two cuisines I don't miss meat because of how heavy they tend to be. Also, eggplants, mushrooms, veggie pizzas...those would be great subsitutes for meat dishes. I just started cooking with paneer and I love it!

I do come across a lot of snobby vegetarians who think they are puritans for refusing to eat meat though. Good for them. I feel bad for them because they don't know what they're missing and that elitist attitude is annoying. That being said, the writer sounds very accomodating and thoughtful to want to cook for her bf :)

My last Craigslist experience left me pretty bitter. I bought Lady Gaga tickets for her concert in New York in Feb 2011. Mind you, I've purchased tickets to other shows and bought and sold plenty of furniture off of Craigslist so I didn't think anything bad would happen. I communicated with the seller and told him I could meet him and pick up the tickets. Instead, he came to my work and dropped the tickets off and I paid him. They looked like regular tickets and I didn't think to inspect them closely. I should have though - because on the night of the show, as we tried to get into MSG, we couldn't because the tickets were fake. So humiliating and embarrassing. I hope that seller is paying the price for this.

This is exactly what I tried to accomplish when I lived in a studio on the UES in New York. However, the panels weren't so easy to work with (yes, I'm also slightly DIY challenged and lost interest), and I ended up buying sheer curtains from JC Penney and hanging them up as a room divider. I wish this article was around earlier to help me :)

WOW! I love that peach color on your lamp. You inspired me to paint mine in that color. Also can you tell me where you got that egg crate type of holder for your jewelry? It's so cute! And I'm definitely keeping the old navy paint in mind for my next painting job.

if you see that the first couple of comments echo your own thoughts, there's no need to add your own two cents and be extra sassy. gosh, i'm really sick of people dishing it out like they're the authority on this whole competition.

anyway, I love this color. very dramatic and chic. thanks for sharing.
