Very creative! And the final project is just gorgeous!! You could throw a round pillow on it to add softness if desired. Also, I love the idea of creating storage inside if someone could take it to that next level. Maybe a great spot to store knitting supplies and current project. Very well done. I too would be concerned about the smell from the tire, the jute and the glue.... but i have found smoke (like incense) to over time be able to transform bad smell, but im not sure about that with this project. i love your style- it does seem to have a taste of victorian age overall as you stated. Very elegant. From your neighbor in fairfax, i adore your kitchen and beautiful thing... (im not sure what to call it,) the rounded shelf metal thing with plant on it by the living room stairs.id love to know more about that. but one thing, only my opinion, that zebra stripe table cloth just seems to strongly clash with the whole room and theme of the house. in the years i have been enjoying apartment therapy and the hundreds and hundreds of tours and homes i have viewed, i can say without hesitation this is my number one favorite home ever. maybe im just in a good mood or something, but this house seems flawless to me in style and taste. thanks so much for sharing and being open to comments both great and cold. kudos to you and your home! oh i just love the clean, elegant style of your place. Thanks for sharing it! And im so jealous of all your natural light. The only thing i personally would change is the black shelving in the living room... that seems to take away from the style you are going for. yah, wow, what a dreadful kitchen. so, can you paint the cabinets? that would make all the difference. I would do them white. (maybe if you show your landlord this post... all the votes to paint them might help!) Then its all about that back wall.... the main focal point. I might use apt. safe adhesive mirror squares there (to create more light and illusion of space) with a thin shelf in front lined with small hanging plants to bring more life. OR just a great piece of artwork that you LOVE that matches a fabulous floor runner rug up the center. Also, put your cleaning supplies on the sink away, or as i did, put dish soap in a fancy bottle (found at thrift store) as a decoration. upon moving in we were not informed that all the apartments around us would yet need to be remodeled.... so half of the time we have been there construction noise has dominated any amount of peace and quiet. ask about this up front... What's on Your "Next Apartment" Checklist? |
