A person got shot to death on our lawn before we bought the place. We didn't know about it until probably a year after we had lived there. One of the neighbors mentioned it to us. I don't really ever think about it, doesn't factor into our daily life at all.

This is by far my favorite so far. This is an amazing small home, and I am kind of jealous. I think I need to convince my boyfriend to work on some of that hidden stair storage!

We just watched 'Safety Not Guaranteed'. I have mixed feelings about it. I think a lot of it was pretty predictable, but it was still a fun movie. I have so many unresolved questions though!!!

While not solely a food magazine, I found that Real Simple has some great, easy to prepare recipes. Also, their recipe search feature on their website is very nice. I find a lot of healthy, but delicious and simple recipes on their site.

This is my dad's favorite, favorite beer. He lives in a rural area where craft type beers are hard to come by, so whenever I go down to visit, I try to grab a pack to take for him.

Luckily, my boyfriend and I just did our file cabinet earlier this month. BUT, at work, I just moved to a new position and a new desk and am trying to figure out how to organize five years' worth of accumulated belongings and knick knacks. Ick.

Today is one of those days where I WISH I could take public trans to my job (alas, I live 32 miles from the office, and it's not feasible). I was driving along to work, every thing was all hunky dory, and I was looking forward to doing homework during my lunch break (I'm a nerd) andddddd my check engine light comes on...FANTASTIC.

My boyfriend's mother got me a Dutch oven for Christmas and the boyfriend got me an America's Test Kitchen cookbook, so I'll be cooking up Mexican-style Rice with Pork for Sunday Supper!

Is it wrong that I'm also kind of excited about this weekend's chores being to do the kitchen?

Since most of the art in the house is my boyfriend's and we have very different taste, I think this is a great project for me. He actually got me a book called "Robots and Donuts" by Eric Joyner for Christmas and told me to pick something out of it, we would get a print and frame it. Definitely excited to get this one going.

My project is going to be decluttering my bookshelves. I did recently get rid of a number of paperbacks, but my bookshelves are just packed with old hardcovers from the library, cookbooks, binders full of contact sheets from when I used to do photography. Not to mention, the completely separate shelf full of board games. It's a complete disaster area. I'm thinking of getting a couple of the Expedit cases from Ikea to help me with this re-do.

I'm kind of excited about this home cure. I've been out of my house for almost four months with contractors repairing smoke damage (I live in a rowhouse and someone burnt down the neighbor's house. Joy of joys). We've got word that the house is almost done, so I might not have any rooms to clean (I'm at least hoping it's clean when the contractors are out and I'm in), but hey.
