@JSEV, your king-size blanket had 8 points as the points (or stripes) denote size *not* value or weight (as is often mistakenly believed). the point system made it so that the size of the blanket could be determined without having to unfold it. pretty smart, eh? Pendleton National Park Blankets |

Do you read the blog Young House Love? They re-vamped an awkward vanity like that so it fit in better with their bedroom space. Ditched the medicine cabinet and backplash, new mirror and paint, etc. Checking out what they did might provide further inspiration. How To Make Bedroom Vanity Less Bathroom-Like? Good Questions |

We have a great shop like this in Portland called Modern Domestic. It was actually featured on Re-Nest a couple weeks ago (http://www.re-nest.com/re-nest/service/lupine-michelle-and-gina-of-modern-domestic-creative-people-living-green-159158). There's also PDX Seamsters/Overlock Lounge in SE, and I think there's open sew at Fabric Depot, but I don't know anything about it. Tienda Costura: Crafting by the Hour |

I think someone already mentioned this, but I have had a ton of luck with fabric and liquid starch. The fabric will peel off when it's time to move, and you just need to clean up the starch residue. I would also recommend washing the fabric beforehand just to ensure that none of the dye from the fabric bleeds. Good luck! Cover Rental Cabinets with Contact Paper? Good Questions |

Wow, y'all sure are kill-joys. I wonder why I even venture to read the comments anymore? If you go and read the original post, you'll see that that this is merely one step in the process of improving this sad little window. He DOES intend on painting it, along with a bunch of other improvements to his apartment kitchen (the apartment, I might add, that he fixes on a shoestring budget while a full-time student). I'm with emmelemm. I'm in Portland and always skipped the scavenger posts altogether because there was never anything from my corner of the country. Glad to finally see some stuff from my neck of the woods! The Daily Scavenger: Western Edition |

Add my vote to "contacting the previous owners." Seems a lot simpler to make that one phone call rather than list all the reasons why the former owners no longer deserve it (e.g., see comments above). It'll give you piece of mind and make that old quilt seem a lot cozier, I think. Decorate Bedroom Around Found Antique Quilt? Good Questions |

In response to bepsf, I absolutely think an auto upholsterer worth his or her salt could match up plaids, stripes, and other patterns. Google "custom car upholstery" and I think you will find a lot of designs much more complicated than what you find in the home. (Probably not your style, but complicated nonetheless.) hmm, guess i will enter the fray. i see no problem with any of these entries winning their category; i trust that AT took whatever steps it deemed reasonable to reduce or eliminate cheating. however, it seems that maybe in the future a rule should be added that contestants should have to wait until after the contest to have their homes featured on other popular websites. ahem, jordan's sneak peak on d*s today... seems like some really great timing?? i would love to see more than 5 photos for ALL the entries; not fair that only one gets this privilege by being featured on another website that i am sure shares a lot of readers with AT. just my 2 cents.
