We bought an old lantern/chandelier from a junk store earlier this year that takes six candles. Come nightfall, it provides the perfect amount of light. We've hung it above the table outside and it provides enough light, even when it's really dark. The candles burn for ages and the lantern was dirt cheap, so it's been a real winner. It's also really beautiful and has turned eating outside into something really special. It's the perfect solution if you don't have an electrical outlet nearby.

That dining table scares me a little! I like some elements but some things - blue man painting, for example, creep me out a little. Love the light in the bedroom, though!

Totally love this!! You have cleverly made it look MUCH bigger than it actually is.
Can I ask where your really lovely tablecloth is from? I've been looking for something like that! Thanks.

This really made me chuckle. Most of this is very true for me, other than the beaded curtain. LOL.

Hi ccat,

That Rothko print is amazing! Having said I liked the idea of something b&w, this sensational picture is making me change my mind!

Thanks, everyone, too, for suggesting mounting the dreamcatcher. It was one of the first things that my daughter made me, and I do really want to keep it. But maybe I'll move it to a different wall and put something large over the bed. Anyway, you have all given me some brilliant ideas - I will let you know what I decide to do!

Hi Bee for Brian,

For some reason, AT didn't post the other photo of the 3 pics by the door - sorry for the confusion!

Thanks everyone for your great comments! I know the room is in a bit of a state, so really appreciate all your ideas. I love the ideas of a B&W picture above the bed or a quote of some kind - I will def. go with one of those.

Yes, the bedspread is Anthropologie. I know it's a bit mad but I just love it so much and it always makes me smile :-)

This is so beautiful! Such lovely things and brilliant use of colour.

Mark, do you mind me asking you more about your gorgeous - GORGEOUS - rug in the living room? Is it from a shop on ebay that sells other similar ones? I've been looking for ages for one like that :-)

This would be such a wonderful, comforting home to come back to. Can you come and do my place?!!

Sandy Floors - 'homely' is actually a big compliment, as it essentially means cosy and inviting - i.e. everything that a home should be. And this place has it in spades! I never knew it had a pejorative meaning. Maybe that's a US thing as it only has great connatations in the UK :-)

This is brilliant! A real home - beautiful, homely, seriously cool and just fabulous! They sound like such great guys and I bet they host THE most awesome parties :-) There's so much interesting stuff to look at; I would never get bored of living/hanging out in a place like this. Absolutely love everything about it.
