Call me crazy, but as a stay-at-home mom, I started toilet training our daughter at 5 months. Because she was in a good routine, it was very easy to predict her movements. We read books, sing songs and make each trip to the loo a very happy occasion. She's 15 months now and she's wearing cotton undies for playtime, and diapers for naps and sleeping through the night. We haven't had a poopy diaper in months! She tells me "doo doo" when she needs to go, and says "all done" when she's finished. I have a few reasons for working at this day in and day out, but mostly I feel it's the environmentally responsible thing to do, and I also believe most babies really are clever enough to be trained before 2. Amen to Statgrrl's comment! Put together a pretty hand-written menu, throw in a few magazines, above all be thoughtful. But the delivery itself should be equivalent to ding dong ditching.
