Keira,
You have sophisticated taste. I'm being picky this year, but you are one of only two people I've faved...Also, congratulations on owning in DC-it not a cheap place to buy!!

this home is very lovely and the outdoor chair looks so inviting... I adore the fresh, crisp white walls and slipcovers and the nice pastel accents. One of my faves for sure...

I have seen the two bedroom photos in magazines before and I was surprised to see them on here. Michellle has a great eye for decor-something that I think cannot be taught (even in school). I have intently studied some of her designs but I did not know they were hers. Anyhow, my favorite color to decorate with is white-especially on the walls. These are some of the better designed rooms that I have seen on this site in a while.

Gorgeous wallpaper and really unifies the whole main area. Also, I really love a dark colored velvet couch. On another note, I also really like the "republican" accents above the bed :)

The only thing that looks half way decent is the back wall. The rest is amateurish, at BEST. I'll leave it at that.

You have great wonderful style, with an eye for details. I think your entry is one of the best. The pitcher collection is incredible and the baby blue porcelain accents on your table fit perfectly. Great antique desk. Definitely not your typical Ikea kit room.

Overall, I like it. Let me get the negative out first, and then move on to the things I like. The living room just doesn't look finished. I understand the minimalistic concept, but it would be good to throw in at least one item that adds some "warmth" and depth to the room.
I love the animal heads and antlers. Also, the built-ins are a great and make the rooms look expensive. The American flag is cool. I don't care for Ikea, because it is so ordinary(I prefer more unique items). However, those light fixtures in the kitchen I thought fit so well in there....and I really like the idea of spray-painting them.

One last note, any neighbor that give you a granite countertop is an awesome neighbor.

MCR22....
Thanks for liking my chair. Actually, it is a vintage chair made by Heywood Wakefield. I had it reupholstered in white.

This is NICE. I have always wished I could see the Design Star contestants' homes; it really helps me to figure out what kind of designers they are. This is the second Design Star's home I have seen on AT(I also saw Antonio's). I love all the true designer qualities that you possess and your home speaks books to that. You have an intuition for designing that cannot be taught in any school. Maybe they chose the wrong winner. Needless to say, I was very impressed with your house pictures. You are a great talent and your better half must surely be proud. Thanks!

Your home was a Sears kit?? It is awesome to know just how far a kit house can go!! Fan-frieking-tastic.
P.S. Son's artwork-Priceless!

You have great taste in blankets. I loved both the one on the couch, and the one on the bed.

The lighting really creates a soothing mood in your home. The stargazer lilies are also beautifully arranged throughout your space. Nice artwork in the kitchen. That looks like Kandinsky..I think.

I don't know about the plywood. It looks unfinished. It is sort of reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright's "Pope Leighy House", in the decor.

I like your home. It has some beachy elements that I love, also. It is super bright and white-how refreshing... So nice and uncluttered. Grrrrreat work.

So true, so true about the "positive" comments only. I don't mind if people say negative things. Lord knows I've had some of my own comments removed...
