I have three children born days apart (the most recent born a few weeks ago!) This year was the first time we did a combined party for the two older kids, a boy and a girl, simply because I was dangerously pregnant and didn't know if we'd get two separate parties in. I sent them each to school with their own invitations, and the invites were tailored to each child so none of the guests felt obligated to bring a gift for each child. They opened gifts separately from one another, which worked well, and they had a single cake and shared games. I was always against combined parties, but this one worked out very well and all the kids played well together. I'd do it again if they were up for it!

I'd like to get one for cupcakes simply because I don't like having to scrape the heck out of my pans when the batter inevitably drips off the side of the bowl. I would imagine a squeeze bottle would eliminate that issue.

I also have problems with my waffle iron, batter dripping from the edge of the bowl and down the sides of the iron, instantly crusting on. I can't even immerse that baby in water so it's REALLY fun to keep clean. =P If these products (which I would imagine I can toss in the dishwasher) eliminate the need for finicky cleaning of appliances, I'm all for it.

We installed our own banister. We ended up using adjustable ballisters/rungs just so that we could customize the fit. But they're definitely still adjustable. I'm wondering if something like that might work for you? If you DO need to move furniture up and over it, you could lower it to the lowest setting temporarily? It might be a bit finicky to get them all loosened, but it could work!

One word: Kids.

I do have several of my own, but they know how to behave in public, and they know not to destroy other people's things. There is an unsupervised 6 year old that roams the neighbourhood and always ends up in our yard as he's in my son's class. We have caught him:

1) Throwing large rocks all over the yard (thanks for the $100 lawnmower bill)
2) Throwing rocks at our car
3) Stuffing the tube for our sump pump full of random junk, nearly causing our basement to flood (caught it in the nick of time)
4) Leaving random stuff in our yard, including his toys, a curtain rod, junk from his house, etc.
5) Breaking 4 of our solar garden lamps
6) Breaking the kids' brand new play structure by jumping repeatedly to knock boards from the roof out of place.

His mother scares the hell out of me and is totally unapproachable. The kids know to tell him to go home when he's over because his mother is sue-happy and I'm actually terrified of him getting hurt on our property. Problem is, he's there all the time whether we're home or not! The time we caught him ruining the sump pump, we were just pulling into the driveway. Sucks.

I received a free kit at my dental office complete with custom-fitted mouth trays and little syringes full of whitening gel that I fill the trays with and place on my teeth for up to an hour. Did it make my teeth whiter? Marginally. Want to know what else it made whiter? My freaking GUMS. The gel can burn them, apparently, leaving visible white patchy marks on your gums. It heals over time, but jeez. It flipping HURT.

Now I stick to my super intense $160 toothbrush that makes department store spin brushes seem like a gentle breeze. When I spit after brushing, I can see the brown of coffee stains washing away. I had some mild staining on my bottom teeth but it's completely gone after a week or two of using my new brush. My teeth are whiter than they've ever been with whitening kits.
