Rad color combo. And you leave the corded phone on the island? Where everyone would trip over the cord as they walk by? Ohhh, it's just the for the picture. That's cool. Tina's "Morning Pick Me Up" Kitchen Room for Color Contest |

Definitely better, but those rugs are going to curl up all around the edges. Then you trip on them, constantly try to turn their edges back down. It's no use. They're pretty but not practical. Before & After: The Power of Color Design *Sponge |

MusicMama - The UO rug is very slidey. It would need a rug pad on hardwood floors. I used one for it on carpet floors. The edges still curl up. I regret getting it now that I think about it. Brooke's Dining Alcove Turned Nursery My Room |

Nay. Nay. NAY. It's horribly blinding. And with the way things are going, incandenscent bulbs will be banned in the US. Then we'll have to stare at those even worse CFLs. A bare CFL. Now that's an instant migraine. Exposed Bulb Lamps: Yay or Nay? |

Since it seems the life/relationship topics aren't going to go away, Apartment Therapy should start a new section. It could be Therapy Therapy. There you go. It's even kind of catchy. Hopefully this is meant to inspire people to reuse the plastic bottles they've already purchased rather than spend a chunk of change on a artsy designer copy of it. Foekje Fleur: Porcelain Vases Inspired by Plastic Bottles |

Here's one vote for purchasing something from thesofaco.com. We were able to get a customized sofa for around $1100. So far it's held up great with our kids, though it's only been about a year so take that into considertion. We were treated nicely by the sales team. We didn't feel pressured to buy. Plus we bought it on Labor Day Weekend so we got it with no sales tax. Hey, it's almost LDW again. Maybe they're running that promotion again. FWIW I would love a Womanland at Home Depot. I'm visualizing it now. I can read magazines, get my nails done, watch all the HGTV I want. Sounds so much better than the usual Home Depot experience. Parking Your Dog (or Your Man?!) at IKEA While You Shop |

There's something about making a commitment before others, a judge, your loved ones, a minister, God if you choose to recognize him, that makes a marriage commitment very significant. Some might say it's "just a piece of paper" or a "ring on a finger", but deep down I think even those know that it's more than that. This is slightly off-topic and I apologize but there might be some good responses. I'm generally looking for sites that reinforce simple, uncluttered living. Those that have a design angle are particularly fun but it doesn't have to be. Can anyone suggest? I browsed organizemyhive too. Thanks Vicki From Busy Bee Organizing for posting your link. Had a colleague who would just delete his entire email inbox when he returned from vacation. Said if any email was important enough, the sender would email him again to get his reply. I'm still kind of envious of that philososhy but I don't have the nerve to try it just yet. He was also high up enough in the company that he could get away with it a lot more easily than others. I offer the idea that there is a difference between mess and clutter. Mess is, ideally, evidence that something productive, useful, or fun was going on. Mess is supposed to be cleaned up, put away, and removed from sight once it's back in its proper place. Clutter is visual junk, homeless objects that take up valuable space that other things need. I'll take the messy, lived-in look just fine. Just so long as I know that it can easily go away when it's time to clean up. A Little Mess: Making Peace With Our Stuff |
