Antique/baroque style bamboo tray table;
mirrored side chest w/drawers;
natural tree-stump side table;
Parson's cube table (laquered);
mirror-top baroque table;
nesting tables;
short chest of drawers (extra storage, and cool if you have enough room);
antique (or new) Chinese Garden Stool/
Metallic drum table;

These are my ideas. Let your end tables shine with such a simple bed! :)

It's completely possible for one horse-related item to be "hot," and potentially, it could be one of the old signs, or something with a different type of horse illustration. For instance, my mother has a set of antique fox hunt plates which are colorful, and sweet. But not that crap above with the floating horse head. What the heck is that all about? It's a nightmare.

the upholstered settee at the end of the bed (bedroom with fireplace) with all the bright pillows... like an extension of the bed itself. I imagine myself coming home, jumping up on top of it, and falling down into the bed... ahhhh, home sweet home. And suddenly kicking off the covers, they have a place to land, not the floor.

Nothing like wishing I could afford a Mel Ramos painting - would blow this one away! I'm dying to find a Mel Ramos at a garage sale for nothing. it would be like winning the lottery to me. I've always wanted to hang something naughty up in my bedroom!

My significant other has a very small tv in a corner shelf with a lamp on it. You don't even notice it as it's not of central importance in the room.

We used to watch the weather in the morning last year, but now, it hasn't been turned on in 9 months at least. I think we have more fun in there anyway, with it being there, no distraction at all -we just don't turn it on, so it doesn't "exist."

The living room TV with the Tivo, and the bigger screen really are more distracting if you think of tv as distracting at all, from what? Talking? reading? cooking? we do all that.

It's nice to be in a relationship where you are going to have a great sex life, no matter what is going on around you.

Oh man... the matching end tables is always the death of me.
(getting two different end tables is KEY to breaking up the monotony).

Instead of getting that matching dresser, in that dark wood, why don't you go with something really divergent: A mirrored dresser? Don't want to drop the cash, why not something like an antique Chinese or Tibetan dresser. Something ethnic always softens the way your room may begin to feel too monochromatic. Get something antique. In any type of wood grain, or painted. It would really add interest to the room.

That Julia Rothmann wallpaper is exquisite, and I don't care how much it costs, it's going somewhere in my new house. Even if it's a couple of meters and that's it...

This apartment must be astronomically expensive to have that view in SF. Mercy!

Try ikea: SEPTIM, MORGON, LYRA, and MELODI are all downwards casting lights in the under 30 dollar range. Those look like the old Cath Kidston lamps that were enameled, but I don't think they carry them anymore.
