I don't think the people who designed this actually have kids. It looks flimsy and would come crashing down on the kids inside. (I know my kids would knock it down) It is also terribly overpriced for a few pieces of plywood.

Check these out:

These play tents are safe, easy to store and setup, and are 1/20th the price. we have a couple like this that we keep in our downstairs closet. The kids can even set it up and put it away themselves in seconds.

Is there a rule of thumb in architecture for how narrow is too narrow? 8 feet would probably work... maybe 6.

I feel uncomfortable even looking at it.

I rake mine into a pile in the back of the yard and then run my mulching mower over them a few times. It chops them up finely and they decompose quickly.

I'm definitely not in the right places if they got that quartersawn oak table for cheap or free. :)

Be sure to support your local woodworking clubs and buy from the members. The chances are good that there is someone in your local club who will make you exactly what you want for a reasonable cost.

Very neat! I'm going to make something like this for my workshop.

I don't like the proportions of it. I could see putting a few rulers around a frame for a classroom or something, but this just looks odd.

I stick with beeswax and mineral oil on the ones I make:
http://jwolski.com/wordpress/?cat=68

The mineral oil and wax both penetrate and seal the wood well. However, waxing and oiling your wooden bowls should be regular maintenance and not just a one-time thing.

You can also put the oil and wax together in a double boiler to make your own blend. Carnuba wax will add extra hardness and shine to the blend.

Looks great! I'm sure you know this already, but *never* use vegetable or any other kind of cooking oil on wood. It will spoil and get funky.

I just looked at these again. The final product isn't bad at all. It is actually neat looking in an Ikea kind of way. It is just such a shame to have sacrificed that beautiful wood.

The color was so rich and those neat old bolts showed the age. This is like painting a stick figure on top of a Monet. Ok, i'm not going to look at it again.

I like it! Be sure to stain and polyurethane both sides. Some flat finish poly will protect the wood and won't change the sheen you currently have.

By the way, you need to seal up both sides or the wood will warp as it expands and contracts with the weather.
