I recommend changing the glass top to a thick piece of round glass instead of the hex-o-hell. Then change your upholstery. If you want, you can spray paint the whole thing chartreuse too....I think you would do yourself a favor by changing the fabric on the chairs to a white canvas-or something to coordinate with your room. xo Apartment Therapy Boston | Good Question: New Life for This Dining Set? |

David: Spray the tub and toilet white. Change the fixtures to CHrome by Sheryl Wayner. Hang a cabana style shower curtain with a swag, a buttom jabot and then a hanging straight panel. Paint the floor in a nautical theme. Fabric gathered on the ceiling in a subburst with tassells and buttoms hanging down. Hang ship light fixture from center of button in middle of room. I live near this house and I LOOOOOVE IT! During Christmas he puts a Santa Hat on each one of the David's. It's so abominably ugly, that I love it. I feel sorry that someone has to live like that, and his neighbors are faced with that on a daily basis, but it's so ugly...i love it. I would paint it out white. All this devotion to the grain of wood, the natural look of the wood, honor the wood...blah...Paint it a fun color, and put a graphic black and white fabric on the seats. I wouldn't bring the concrete up onto the walls unless you plan on polishing it. It will get dusty and start to look really bad. It might be an interesting play to see if they can use a mold for a somewhat traditional looking baseboard made with concrete instead of gyp. Polish and delish.
