Happy to spot Katie Daisy's (The Wheatfield) art featured here! I have a couple of her prints - they're so beautifully vibrant on great quality paper.

"Think vertical" is key! I share a 750 square foot apartment (including home art studio) with my boyfriend. We both have hobbies that require storage, and storing things vertically has made it easy to keep them accessible yet out of the way. Guitars, skis/snowboards, sports equipment and shoes are all things that can be mounted on the wall and made to look decorative, not cluttered.

These are great! I have the second one hanging in my studio. Who doesn't love blogs and coffee? ;)

I also create prints and paintings that combine typography, mixed media and my own photography... you can check out my work here if you're interested: http://www.etsy.com/shop/maechevrette

"This is one of the reasons why I love Apartment Therapy. It's not a sterile site about interior design. It's a warm site with heart and an appreciation of the dogs and cats and other pets that enrich our lives."

I completely agree with this commenter and appreciate that AT recognizes the degree to which animals can turn a house (or apartment, loft, duplex, igloo) into a home. I feel so lucky that 7 years after adopting my cat Gracie in high school, she was able to move into my first post-college apartment. I couldn't imagine the concept of "home" without her.

Hooray Amherst! As Amy said, this is worlds above anywhere I lived while attending UMass (Townhouses/Puffton anyone?) Your crafting area is fantastic and your kitchen is really beautiful... and not a Solo cup in sight ;)

LOVE IT! the vintage exposed brick is why we jumped at (and literally raced to get) this bad boy back in March:

It gives our home instant character and I feel like compliments the other natural/rustic decor items we brought in.

The red accents are so great-- I wish you had more of them throughout the kitchen and bedroom! Did you paint the cabinets red or did they come like that? Either way, your space is GORGEOUS :)

Christina Marie - Thanks! I sell my artwork locally and on Etsy. The link is in my profile if you'd like to see more.
MsPface - If only we were allowed more than 5 photos! As for the papasan chair, I know they are the ultimate decor faux pas, but I've always had a soft spot for them and love the cozy vibe this one has... its like the comfy ugly sweater I can't bear to throw out :)
Restlessness - Thank you! "Live, Travel, Adventure, Bless" is a painting I finished recently and hadn't put away yet... you can see it in more detail here if you like: http://www.flickr.com/photos/maechevrette/5436885991

Also! I really like how your workspace and living space is so integrated without either seeming like it is overlapping or crowding the other... that desk is great!

I really like all the vintage ads! Very eclectic looking without being too over the top... it seems like a fun place to be in :)

Love the clear coffee table-- it works so well in your space, and it almost looks like your books are floating which is awesome! I agree with the poster above me... your discipline in choosing key decor elements makes your space look really refined :)

I like the dining area, and I agree with a couple of the other comments that a narrow bookshelf with a geometric feel (like IKEA's Billy, or stacked cubes) would look amazing and help the hallway fit the rest of your lovely place :)

I love everything about your space! The way you separated your bed area from your living area is great-- the open shelving looks like it gives privacy without putting your bed in a cave. The little window seat/balcony is amazing too... and I just saw your ceiling, ha! That is so cool. Great work!

Thanks for the sweet comments everyone! I really appreciate the constructive criticism, too... we've only lived here for a month, so there are definitely some decor and design aspects that will sort themselves out in time. As for the couches, they were a very welcome gift and fit so many people so comfortably that we're happy to look past the fact that they don't completely match our decor.

JahRose - I love the grainsack pillow idea, thanks!
Bizzle- the tree fort ghosts are welcome, as long as they BYOB :)

Wow, the entertainment console works so well in that space and I LOVE the different shelves of color and the orange/red storage boxes.. it brings a great but not overwhelming pop of color! I don't normally like grey walls but they look very modern in your place.
