I would recommend a family movie night (put together some microwave popcorn, candy, and an oldy but goody DVD). I do a baby book for each child from birth to age three. After that i plan on doing highlights in the form of a blurb book to cut back on the time needed to organize, print and put together an album. This drawer organizer from DickBlick is very nice. http://www.dickblick.com/zz512/44/ I've transformed an older piece of furniture (a secretary) into an art cabinet for the whole family. I keep all our supplies, paper, art books, photo albums, and portfolios in there. It's been great to get everything in one location. I keep it in the basement but bring up a few supplies in a smaller portable drawer for weekly use. When we're all watercolored out, I return the watercolor supplies and replace it with clay or play dough. It's worked so far. This room has so many beautiful and simple ideas. Looks like it was made with a lot of creativity and love (the best combination). What an awesome room! I did not buy a bumper for aesthetic purposes. I bought one because my son was bumping his head against the slats and was waking up in the middle of the night when his legs would get stuck in between the slats. I'm about to move my 8 month old in with my 3 year old. I have a question for those of you out there who may be in a similar situation. Does the baby wake up the 3 year old? My 8 month old goes to sleep at 7 and wakes up at 4 or 5 to eat and then sleeps again until 7. Will the 4 or 5 am crying wake up my 3 year old? Will he go back to sleep afterwards? I'd love the grey one! What I'd pack for my two boys: - diapers, wipes - binky, book - snacks (raisins, animal crackers) - bottle, sippy cup - lip balm, mints, cell phone, wallet - First 1,000 Days Baby Journal. I write in it whenever I'm in the waiting room at the doctor's office or find myself in another quiet moment. If I didn't carry it with me I'd never write anything down. Remember, although Mom may look healed she needs at least 8 weeks to heal internally. Emotionally, she may be nervous or anxious- especially if she is a first time mom. Be sensitive to this. If you are invited to visit, do not stay long (even if it seems like they want you to stay) and wash your hands before touching the baby.
