This solution is safe for all types of screens? Monitors, LCD TVs, tablets and the like?

Agree with BonnieProjects, "flooded with life" isn't the right caption. Regardless, love the bold colour choices *and* bold technology choices. Most people wouldn't have the first clue what to do with a projector. Can I cast a vote for most bad-ass space? (I'd vote twice.)

Love your place and your taste in art (at least what was hung). Maybe it's just me, but it seems like there's lots of big furniture in your living area. If you reduced seating, you could probably display some pieces below the windows, sort of leaned up against the wall? Or ditch the mirror?

Love the bar cart, btw. I am hunting for one just like it.

Very nicely edited, so clean and fresh looking. My heart nearly broke when I saw that bar sink in your kitchen...then I noticed the dishwasher. Is there a category for itty-bitty but well-appointed? ;)

Just wow. So perfectly edited / curated. I would gladly take any room in your house and put it in mine.

What a tranquil, thoughtfully curated space. In a work/life space like this it is so important to have balance and I think you've really achieved it. I can practically see your long work days followed seamlessly by evenings of wine and music with friends or clients.

Anything when executed well will look good, no matter the subject or medium. For me, the question would be more a long-term look, ie: when I slipcover this couch, will all this crap show through?

Peering into the mind of the artist / college student / parent who might allow this, if the couch or slipcover is already stained or somehow wrecked, what's the difference? This could be an improvement over the 'before' that we don't get to see.

I've been both upstairs and downstairs neighbour, but if the solution is so automatically "get a rug" then why isn't equally automatically "tell them to get ear plugs"?

If you've chosen to live in an apartment instead of a house, you find you have to share things and ignore things that you don't necessarily want to. Share the elevator, share the laundry facilities, share the parking (if it's not assigned) and deal with evidence that you have living neighbours, ie: noise.

Communal living requires patience, diplomacy and tolerance. Just as living on a lovely treed street in a detached single-family house will require the same, when your neighbours have roofers show up at 7:30am or they listen to music while they wash their cars on sunny days. Patience, diplomacy, tolerance.

Just beautiful! Though I'm not a grad student anymore, I've just finished repaying my student debt, which means I've subsisted on a comparable meager income. I've struggled with creating a beautiful, character-filled home on a shoestring.

Your apartment is an incredible inspiration -- I live in a similar style apartment (a pre-war 4-storey walk-up in a beautiful, historied Toronto neighbourhood) and I have no problem admitting that my future design choices are going to echo yours. I love the hommage you've paid to the original character of the place, while also weaving so much of your own style and personality into the decor.

I'm about to embark on step 1 of my apartment re-beautification: painting! Security deposit be damned!

Thank you for opening your home to AT readers and good luck with the rest of your studies!

Holy hell! At first blush I couldn't believe that buffalo check. But as I looked at the full selection of shots, I have to give you the biggest hat tip! That emerald green, the bright white, the gilt and gold of that mirror. Wowza. Uber-bold choices and they've really paid off. What does the rest of your house look like??

Love your B&W look and applaud your bravery of kitteh + white sofa. Your apartment certainly seems very big and airy, though also like a very under-accessorized Ikea showroom. I don't have anything against Ikea--I love that their pieces are affordable and so simply designed that adding a few of your own accessories gives them an undeniably personal feel.

I think your home would really benefit from some artful photos on the wall rather than the same Ikea stock that's in my office building lobby and my Dr's waiting room. DC is gorgeous, why not tap a local photog for something in their portfolio?

I LOVE your home. It's got such a strong Scandinavian design to it -- bold colours, perfectly edited accessories, so many soft textures and comfy looking spots. I would move in tomorrow! I think my favorite is the rug in your living room and the way the throw pillows complement it.

I love that your take on 'artistic' doesn't translate to "all sorts of random crap strewn about without any discernible order because I'm, like, sooooo eccentric." ;P

I'd love to see other "classic" chairs that go with this style of tulip table. I'd rather not have mesh marks on my butt after every meal :P

Who the heck are all you people who bake?! Maybe I'm just the type who rather do the eating part than the work.

Mom was never a baker either, but something she always swore by was a little pair of ceramic pots that sit one on top of the other. The top on she'd fill with water and all sorts of lovely spices, and the bottom one would hold a votive candle. Once the candle was lit voila! The air was pleasantly scented and the stove wasn't left on for hours.

Lots of elements I love, even without excessive bits and bobs. Obviously if it's being rented out it's not going to be full of personal items.

However, I concede I am straight-up scared of those glass staircases. All I need to do is spill a glass of water when coming up to bed one night and the next person down the stairs slips and slides their way to the emergency room.
