Reminds me of a mango pie a family friend used to make growing up in Central America. Love cobblers, and love mangos. Thank you for sharing, I will need to try this soon.
Do you know roughly how many mangos in four pounds?

I agree with MDorothy, you don't have to fill space. I have lived in two houses with odd layouts that my friends jokingly refer to as the ballroom.
Suggestions on turning the furniture around are right on, as having all the furniture against a wall might give the room a bowling alley feel. Turning one of the sofa's back against the kitchen and place a low console or bookcase against he back to add some definition and storage.

I live in Toronto and have a few succulents growing in the backyard. They probably do not propagate as well as they would in warmer weather.

Have to agree with mochene. I would not use foam cones. Even food grade styrofoam is iffy. Perhaps use a cream horn mold? they are fairly cheap, at $6. for a set of 6, and they are metal.

Those who worry about bacteria...I have been doing this for years and nary a food poisoning episode. I remember friends in high school that had the Zojirushi Bento thermos that kept their food piping hot, and we are all doing well 20+ years later.

I usually order a red eye. That is a brewed coffee with a shot of espresso. Any barista, from the corporate Starbucks to the independent coffee shop will know that.
On rough days, I will order a black eye, which is a brewed coffee with two shots of espresso. I can feel my heartbeat when I get a black eye...

Ikea can make sturdy beds if put together well. The problem arises if you move the furniture often, and forget disassembling and trying to use it again.

as suggested by other posters, it could be something stuck under the fridge. sometimes break out the harsh stuff, like ajax or vim.
also, try a tray of kitty litter around the area to absorb the smell. just make sure you use clean litter.

I am trying to limit bread intake, but in similar lines, i add some wheat germ to just about anything. That is mainly because I got a huge bag of it for cheap. But it adds fiber, and a really nice nuttiness to a salad.

Oh yes. I try to read up on places to eat before going on any trip.
While we were in Miami, I did a side trip to the Florida Keys looking for the best key lime pie. Also, while travelling in Spain figured we should dip into Portugal to do some empirical tests on Natas.
I do want to go to Georgia next to check some peach cobbler.

RKeller- Katie said she is renting, so that is likely not an option.
Katie- I would not paint the ceiling a dark color if it already appears low. The dark color will make it look even lower. You can try going monochromatic with the walls, to make it look more expansive. Also, not sure if it will work with lower ceilings, but I have seen some makeovers that have used fabric to cover the ceiling. It is not permanent so that might be an option?
