No way on the suburbs. We have a 2 year old and I LOVE walking everywhere with her, all the fun options for activities etc. She's been on the CTA (Chicago public trains) a bunch and loves it. I'm with whoever said that even a farm is better than suburbs. Can't stand them. (and yes, I grew up in them)

If budget allows, I'd definitely combine the smaller bedroom and the kitchen to make two new sized bedrooms and then move the kitchen to the living room. That would allow for a window in the bedroom, leave the balcony alone, and actually create a nice open layout for the living room.

I have this one and love it - Jahgoo Baby Bath ($25 on amazon). It's not too big and the baby seems to really like it.

I have 3 different Benjamin Moore shades of grey in a bathroom, bedrooms, and a hallway and they all look great.

We had those types of blinds in our rental too but I had the landlord take them out and I put up curtains. We can't re-use all the curtains or rods now that we're going to move, but it was completely worth it. Using $4.99 ikea rods really helps keep the price manageble.

Ecover, Bright Green, and 7th Gen are ones I've tried that were good. I hate the smell of regular cleaning products and those three are just as effective.

I got a desk from them at last year's floor model sale. $550 instead of $900 I think.

My parents got me one of the oldschool aluminum with changing lights trees and I LOVE it. A lot of people make fun of it but I think it's awesome.

I have very deep window sills, around 8 inches probably. The living room ones have picture frames and vases on them, an the one near the kitchen has mostly cook books.

I have someone come in for around three hours about 2 times a month. She does the jobs I hate doing (washing bathrooms, kitchen, etc).
As others mentioned, she's thrilled to have the work. I would go crazy without her so I am doing it for me not for her, but it's nice that it's a win-win situation.
Knowing that she's coming gets me to put everything in it's proper place etc.

I've had a leather L-shaped couch from Dania for almost four years now and it has held up great. Definitely recommended.
