Sarah, your home is fabulous! I can't believe the wall paper is from Walmart! very chic ... having lived on the edge of Hudson Bay (Abitibi Canyon) with no roads in or out only trains; I know how difficult it can be to get things into a community such as Iqaluit...

How about bed-risers? something like this http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=Bed+Risers&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=6854434001448544778&sa=X&ei=3QA7Ttm8CqbZiALel_zYCw&ved=0CFcQ8gIwAw
Then you could do a gold, silver or copper leafing process on the risers to make them look pretty :)

I'm so there... I love being outdoors but am over sleeping on the ground! Each one of the trailers/caravans/RV's you've shown here are fabulous.. I have a secret fantasy to find an airstream and make it totally gorgeous! (sigh ) some day. Happy Camping.

What about building shutters into the casement, that would give you the fresh air and a nice light without having to put up screens.. something like this http://www.reliableshutter.com/colonial_folding_shutter.htm

Hi Amy !!

I would sheetrock the whole fireplace. Paint the exposed brick a complimentary colour. I built in some shelves for the picture I have added below; however a piece of art or something hanging would be nice to balance the drapes on the other side. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-N34QUEOiOjM/TfPXKI6pe9I/AAAAAAAAA50/ilvbsN3D1gk/061011-goodquestions2.jpg

Grass cloth is pretty popular right now; if you can live with it I would leave the grass cloth and spend the money on new drapes, cornices, new lighting fixtures and your floors. I agree with mschatelaine that lighter floors are much better, dark floors are pretty but they show every speck of dirt and dust.

Hi Rhodajr,

I couldn't get the link to work so I posted another one .. I hope you don't mind :)

A couple of additional thoughts on bring the indoors out, please make sure the fabrics you are choosing are Spun Acrylic ( Sunbrella ) and that the foam is open cell, if you can.. That means when the cushions get wet they will dry very quickly. If you use regular foam and fabric you will have mold issues.. If you do take regular cushion etc outside don't leave them out in the elements .. Bring them in after use ..

The Young Professional,

Try Fermob, they make a bar height table Gamme Deauville, it is 70CM by 70 CM that translates to 27.5 inches. And stool that coordinate.

They also have a set called Bistro that has a bar height table that is about 28 inches and coordinating chair.

Ceilings mount art system…

Hang hooks the same distance in the ceiling as the door knob sticks out. Personally I would find some heavy duty hooks and some chain or funky rope and eye hooks (more cost effective) make or buy a canvas frame, some paint and create something that ties your Hudson Bay Blanket to the canvas. Or get a great piece of fabric a staple gun and stretch the fabric around the frame a collage of people, places, things you love! Instant art… IF you do this you don’t have to worry about removing the door or having the hardware show :)
