It's beautiful, and it's different from what is usually posted here. it's not exactly my style, or my colors, but i still feel i could easily spend hours there. it inspires you.

great room, and I love the little bulbs above your desks!
honestly-I don't imagine myself climbing these beds up and down..especially if you need to do so in the middle of the night. but well, maybe 20 years ago i'd be less worried about that..

potted flowers. food..and yes, marmalade will work:) funny watering can, for the yard. or for the mentioned above potted flowers. something silly and endearing from the local festival of arts and crafts. tablecloth..
I liked the idea of nicely binded list of everything local, if people just moved to the place. The old great greeting with bread and salt. The most strange thing for me to get would be trophy..not useful AND not funny AND not beautiful..an object should be one of three, at least, in my opinion.

But the most I would agree with a comment about geniune friendship. As long as people thought of you, came to you, wanted to share your moments, wanted to see smile on your face..what else do you need?
(just a little help afterwards in painting those walls, lol))

Kudos indeed. I'm smitten. It takes a very special kind of person to develop such creative and marvellous relationship with things around..everything feels so loved.

Well, Jonathan Adler, Room Service and Grace Home are all too expensive for me..I guess it's all relative:)
But anyhow. I love it. The architecture is great, I'm in love with this Spanish style, and I chose my own house precisely for that. Colors are great, ambience is great. Loved your story and advice as well. Great tour. Thank you for sharing!

Fabulous. I rarely log in to comment, but I had to-on this one. Maybe because I wouldn't go for those colors etc. myself-and still I love it, in your place. Even TV above the fireplace(is it a TV?) which I usually don't like. Beautiful, gracious home. And I love your floors. I have a feeling mine are the same..at least close. And I'm madly in love with mine. Mine are something walnut..what are yours?

I love the contrast between brick wall and crystal chandelier-so daring and so beautiful. it's a pity there's no pic where entrance with foyer table(?) can be properly seen-would love to take a look at it as well, seems pretty from the side.
clearly, that's apartment with good bones, and you made a lot of it as well.

I would go with really happy intense wall color..to play contemporary and light feel vs old cabinets. some were mentioning yellow, and I agree-would take it to the lemon side even. pear, apple green, turquoise might be nice as well. Would go without window treatments, or if a must-a very unpretentious one. Accessories and decor-something quirky and unexpected, rather than predictable country stuff..something very personal and talking to you, maybe funny..like family pics, or funny postcards from nice galleries..
Bright rug-if you must have a rug in the kitchen..it might all work out, until you like it, or until your partner decides to go with a bigger change. Oh, and I would put a pot or a vase with a flower, or smth like that..whatever you decide to do with it-good luck with your new house!
