It's helpful to get a response from the viewpoint of a landlord...thanks for your post.

Unfortunately, though, none of this does a bit of good in San Francisco right now!

I know "kids need to be kids" but I clamped down pretty hard on mine as early as possible. No hard running, no jumping, no bouncing balls, etc. while inside. Fortunately, I have the luxury of living in a place with no weather extremes so I was able to take her outside or to the park frequently.

Eventually it got to the point where all I had to do was say one word: "Neighbors." My motives were selfish: I didn't want to be bothered with anyone else's complaints.

What has helped cement it in her head is that we've always ALWAYS had noisy and extremely inconsiderate upstairs neighbors. I was able to tell her "See...that's what it would sound like to the people downstairs if WE were noisy."

You could get a bunch of little potted cacti/succulents and line a few shelves here and there with them, in between the shelves you are already using.

Agreed!

My first bathroom was in the style of the examples above, except forest green and black. I just loved it. Now I have an "on sale at Home Depot" bathroom. :-\

Fortunately I have mostly mismatched stuff so this doesn't really matter. Otherwise my OCD would surely compel me to rotate every.single.thing, probably with the help of a spreadsheet.

Ooooh...those tiles! I love them!

Very often I see "before" pictures and think to myself "That's really not that bad and doesn't need to be gutted." This is an exception...the before really WAS that bad! Great job...favorited!

Nice...before it looked 80s vintage, now it looks MCM.

I do agree that it could use chubbier legs, though. ;-)

As to the topic...I find it useful to snap up orphaned Pyrex lids and stash them away. Invariably I will find a topless casserole elsewhere and boom...now I have a set for a lot less than if I had found it intact.

I agree. I'd never even heard/seen it before a few months ago, but now it seems to be getting shoehorned into all kinds of print. Feels affected.
